We dance for Shemini Atzeret,
for the sacred closeness.

We dance for Simchat Torah,
for the joy of Torah.

We dance for peace,
for the freedom of the hostages.

We finally dance again.

When Aaron Fucking Rupar is doing more reporting than CBS News and The NYT

I think this was a plotline on the second season of The Newsroom

Trump's conversation with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto is caught on a hot mic. Hard to tell exactly what they are talking about, but Subianto asks Trump about meeting Eric Trump and Don Jr, who supposedly have nothing to do with government while they run the family business.

what is illuminating, in my opinion, is how many foods have been created by jews that have been claimed by non-jews as their regional specialty, like bagels, fish & chips, and old bay seasoning, for which we are stripped of any credit, while accused of stealing others' dishes.

It can harm

There’s many things happening that could leave you disabled and they’re occurring as the regime takes away healthcare & disability support.

This is why wearing a mask is resistance.

Protecting your health is a way to fight back.

Protecting the health of others? That’s community care.

Cursing is rarely a symbol of low class. It's often a mark of high authenticity.

Evidence: Swearing predicts higher rates of honesty and integrity. It signals a willingness to prize candor over courtesy.

A little profanity can show that you're being real and you do give a damn.

Frankly most of you don’t know enough about Jewish OR Israeli culture (and their many distinct permutations) to parse the difference, that’s shitty and ignorant and makes you a mark for a lot of edgelord Nazi shit

I bruised my foot during my 20 mile training run for the NYC Marathon. Happily, someone left a bag of frozen M & S French fries in the freezer. Perfect for icing the bruise!

Not everyone can be Governor of Illinois, but that doesn't mean regular folks with phones can't speak truth to power!

(PS A minute later, the caller tells Mike Johnson, in pretty polite tones, that he, Mike Johnson, is lying.) (🤘)

Things that are sustaining me right now, as my hometown of Chicago is invaded by Trump fascists:
1. Costa Maple Hazel latte
2. Strolling through the South Flower Walk in Hyde Park
3. Running
4. Bakewell tarts
5. A great therapist

I am in London for 2 weeks. I had a delicious Costa Maple Hazel latte and a toasted brie and pear sandwich for lunch after running 7 miles in Hyde Park. This is why I am not actively having a nervous breakdown as fascism destroys the US, and yes, this is a privilege I am very lucky to have.

The South bucked transition yesterday morning when they opened fire on Fort Sumter, in what some have characterized as a shift in strategy in the growing national debate over state's rights.

NEW: Judge Crenshaw finds that the Trump admin's criminal prosecution of Kilmar Abrego Garcia may well be vindictive—and greenlights discovery and an evidentiary hearing. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...
MEMORANDUM OPINION
By way of context, a federal prosecutor is the representative not of an ordinary party to a controversy, but of a sovereignty whose obligation to govern impartially is as compelling as its obligation to govern at all. The obligation to govern impartially concerns, above all, the state's exercise of coercive power-meaning its power to deprive its subjects of life, liberty, or property... As a representative of the state, a prosecutor's exercise of coercive power must be impartial ... [in] that prosecutorial power may not be exercised vindictivelymeaning that the prosecutor may not punish a defendant for exercising a protected statutory or constitutional right.
United States v. Zakhari, 85 F.4th 367, 384-85 (6th Cir. 2023) (Kethledge, J., concurring) (citations and quotations omitted). This context frames review of Defendant Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia's ("Abrego") motion to dismiss his indictment for vindictive and selective
prosecution. (Doc. Nos. 104-05). The Government opposes the motion (Doc. No. 121), and Abrego has replied (Doc. No. 127). Abrego's motion is not ripe for decision because he seeks discovery and an evidentiary hearing because there is some evidence of vindictiveness here. For the reasons that follow, the Court holds that the totality of events creates a sufficient evidentiary basis to conclude that there is a "realistic likelihood of vindictiveness" that entitles Abrego to discovery and requires an evidentiary hearing before the Court decides his motion. United States
v. Andrews, 633 F.2d 449, 457 (6th Cir. 1980) (en banc), cert. denied, 450 U.S. 927 (1981).

The opposite of destruction is creation. They want to destroy everything that doesn't conform. So we need to create like our lives depend on it. Art. Music. Community. Safe havens. Hope. That is the difference between surviving this and living through it.
