A quiet little street in inner Sydney’s Surry Hills. It’s lined on both sides with parked cars. On the right is a row of two-storey terrace houses, many of them still with old-fashioned iron railings, some with dormer windows added. Covering the street are the branches of London plane trees, fully leaved and towering to twice or maybe three times the height of the houses. The street itself and the sidewalks are littered with crushed and dried leaves, and the powdery remnants of seed pods.

At gym a guy was beside me, we'd both showered, he played on his phone beside me while I dried and dressed, him not wanting to get naked in front of me. After I dressed I sat down and played on my phone. If you can make me feel uncomfortable I can do same right back at you mate.

probably my most deeply-held belief: it is not possible for a slide deck to be both (1) a good presentation aide; and (2) a standalone document that can be read and understood in isolation.
