Good! We need to pay more tax, and it needs to be spent properly for the good of the country. They should have said this right from the outset instead of pretending that we could magically achieve enough growth that we wouldn't need them.

So many vets' practices have been taken over by a small number of big chains backed by venture capital, who just see it as a money making business. It makes things very difficult for independent practices that are trying to do the right thing by their customers and their pets.

I believe it's more that you need a standard of English that is good enough to take A levels in general, rather than specifically an English subject A level.

Even so, that's still a higher standard than many native Britons have achieved (including, if we're honest, plenty who do have A levels!)

In 2024, about 600,000 who turned 19.
Of those, about 300,000 took at least one A level.
Of those, about 56,000 took some form of English A level.
Of those, only 13,000 took English Language A level.

That's about 2% of the population.

The hostage release is a reminder of how bad the Dems are at politics. Not only did Biden refuse to force this deal on Netanyahu & thereby help Harris win, but most people aren’t even aware that Biden got way more Israeli hostages (over 100) released with his 2023 ceasefire than Trump did with his.

I'm not convinced that that's true ... but even if were is a genius of the highest order, choosing to portray himself as a braindead himbo who cares more about his hair and teeth than world affairs is not exactly an edifying career, arguably worse to choose that than to really be that person.

Lending money to people when they can't afford to pay it back is bad enough when they are buying a stable (or appreciating) asset like a house ... but lending them money to buy an asset that depreciates rapidly seems like a particularly bad idea 🤔

The original intention was that tuition fees would be *capped* at £9k but "lesser" universities would be likely to offer tuition at cheaper rates in order to attract students.

Of course, no university wanted to admit to being a lesser university, so they all went for the full £9k from day one.
