Yes, all true though in Cville the most urgent bike/ped needs are on streets next to commercial and parking lots (west main, rose hill) or stroads like 5th street and Preston where there is ample right of way to be less car-centric

I’ll add to that this whole situation is another very good reason for significant reform to how the Board of Visitors operates. They were told about these problems (and had a legal and moral responsibility to know about them), but chose to give Kent a massive raise and lengthy contract extension.

Any specific reasons you have in mind? Expense of right of way acquisition? Because people who live in between want it to be as hard as possible for city folks to get there? Or ... ?

That would be amazing. Maybe it could go thru Biscuit Run and connect from its southern end down to Scottsville? I don’t know the area well enough to know if that would help much or not

Yup, most of the distance between UVA/DTM and CHO/Hollymead area is county/VDOT maintained. The city can do more to safely create routes heading north, but further connectivity is a county/state funding issue

If/once it happens years from now, the Three Notch'd Trail will provide safe biking between Crozet and UVA/Cville. I don't know of any plans for getting out towards Zion Crossroads. The advantage of connecting Cville <--> CHO/Hollymead is there's lots and lots of people and places in between
