I find it interesting that the surveillance state showed up as a bunch of name brand products and we didn't just welcome it... we paid top dollar for it. Then the stuff we bought turned around and *sold us* to advertisers, the government, and other corporations.

I've seen stories about this from CNN, ABC, WaPo, and the AP over the last 24h without even searching them out. This whole "the media won't cover" narrative coming from aggregators and interaction farmer that just strip mine news to repost without attribution isn't helpful to anyone but them.

A: A nazi party. It doesn't matter what they'd rather be called. It doesn't matter if they say it's a small minority. The party that invented "welfare queen" & "woke" to describe black women & people that give a shit can GFTS.

Because of the type of capitalism we worship in the US, price increases to cover tariffs will be kept when the tariffs recede. They're always just "the new price" and grocer companies and companies that import anything will just quietly report record profits in a couple quarters.

OTR does some amazing food history documentaries on their YouTube channel. The ones for noodles and sugar are especially important meditations on how food has shaped the human experience throughout history. Really well done stuff.

My favorite performance of Curry's was as the devil-demon Darkness in Legend, which is far from saying that was the best movie he was in. It was like watching two different flicks depending on if he was in the scene or not.

I'm not saying that I'm good at holding a grudge, but I'm still mad at Gene Simmons for that Terry Gross interview.

I'm also still upset that record execs turned the Heart that gave us the GOAT "Barracuda" into the band that did (the decidedly less stellar) "All I Want to Do Is Make Love to You."
