I don’t think that @ima-maths.bsky.social should be inviting speakers from BAE Systems to speak at their conference when BAE manufactures weapons which are used by Israel in the ongoing genocide in Palestine.

That sounds like Maths being complicit to me.
A screenshot reading “Institute of Maths and its Applications” 8th IMA Conference on Mathematics in Defence and Security Mathematics for Decision Support” Phillips Payne (BAE Systems) is product technical lead for mission effectiveness at BAE Systems, Air, supporting both current and future global combat air programmes. Based in the Chief Engineer’s Office, she helps ensure next-generation fighter heat integrate cutting-edge technology. BAE systems. The worlds seventh largest weapons manufacturer, U.K. company BAE Systems manufactures the M109 howitzer, a 155mm mobile artillery system that the Israeli military has been using extensively, firing tens of thousands of 155mm shells into the Gaza Strip.

You say Fibonacci is a slow runner, but I’m just impressed he was able to start a race almost 400 years after dying!
After months of organisation, it was an amazing and crazy couple of days at @qmulmaths.bsky.social hosting PiFORUM25 - the annual conference run by the Piscopia initiative (piscopia.co.uk)

It also marked my final two days at QMUL (modulo thesis corrections), as I start my first postdoc this Monday!
Thesis defended, doctor pending 💜

"What if the answer to some problems in graph learning is not more, but better structure?"

This is the central premise of my talk @logml.bsky.social and @unireps.bsky.social.

Why are parts of England trying to claim this Welsh holiday?
I will always remember today as the day my thesis cracked 100 pages [editors note: I will probably forget this day by the end of the week]

Hello world!
We’re excited to be at the Diversity and Decolonisation in Mathematics conference at the University of Warwick today and tomorrow. If you’re around, come say hi!
Does this one run towards you at infinite speed?
“Assume that you have lost your puppy on an embedded graph. You can walk around on the graph and the puppy will run towards you at infinite speed” if this doesn’t want to make you read a paper I don’t know what will 🥰

When my union struck we chanted, "3.14159, I'd rather teach than hold this sign", which could easily be so-and-so "must resign"
