I am not ready for the MTG mitt Romney country club conservative arc

I think I could probably just summarize this entire thing with “there were no good ol’ days”

not to mention there were lots investments that never made it into service or not in numbers to justify development costs!

It’s probably mean to keep dragging this piece but

a) the P-51 was a design 4 years in the making

b) The notion that the US avoided extraordinarily costly defense projects with massive cost overruns is disproven by the B-29, which cost more to develop and produce than the Manhattan Project
sodrock.bsky.social
Like the B-29 cost $50 billion in todays money to only be used for a year in one theater of the war lol
sodrock.bsky.social
Anyways I’ll discuss this in more detail in my upcoming piece (should be out Thursdayish (hopefully))
sodrock.bsky.social
The people have listed so much superior allied technology that I have been inspired to litigate this year old piece in long form secretaryrofdefenserock.substack.com/subscribe?si...

Imagine invading an American city for fascism then getting recalled because the dear leader saw you on TV and thought you were too fat and unattractive.

The Texas Military Department confirmed to @taskandpurpose.com it had replaced some of the 200 National Guard troops sent to Chicago for not being "in compliance" with validation standards. This came after photos of heavyset NG members were widely mocked. taskandpurpose.com/news/texas-n...

An unspecified amount of Texas National Guard troops were replaced in Chicago, shortly after photos of their appearance were mocked.

President Trump tells reporters aboard Air Force One that he doesn’t think he’s going to get into heaven.

“I don’t think there’s anything that’s going to get me into heaven.”

(I isolated Trump’s voice)

Describe the opposite of The Free Press in a sentence
Screenshot of text:

It’s a business story. [Highlighting begins] Everyone in journalism has known for years that there’s been a huge opportunity for a publication that employs the traditional methods of U.S. journalism—reporting, deep sourcing, fact-checking, fearlessness—to subjects that either don’t get covered enough or get covered only from a certain perspective. [Highlighting ends] If creating such an enterprise seems simple

I don’t think it’s good that we have an entire class of media elites who believe that people getting mad at them means they’re doing a good job, but identifying that makes me wonder if it’s actually better to not get mad at them and deprive them of what they want.

Holy cow... those mad lads from Northwestern got them to do it!

I didn’t really pay attention to what the free press was publishing day in and day out but anything related to defense/history was usually dogshit

🤷🏻‍♂️

Also they ran just incredibly awful commentary with incredibly shawty evidence (which I’m sure will become feature at CBS now). For example, the author of this piece claimed the Allies won WWII with inferior technology minus the atomic bomb lol

The US never fought to end fascism anywhere. They joined the war because Japan forced their hand, and they saw a great way to make money. After the USSR pretty much had pushed Germany out of eastern Europe and they knew the nazis were going to lose, they jumped in.
