The amount of money you can make pretending to teach people to become published authors is significantly larger than the money you can make being a published author.

Then we didn't go for another 10 years and were shocked at the change

In Portland, an ambulance was summoned to the ICE office to treat an injured protester (not clear how he was injured). But when the patient was loaded inside, ICE officers refused to let the ambulance leave and threatened to shoot the ambulance driver: www.wweek.com/news/2025/10...

🚨The absence of media coverage of this natural disaster in Alaska, the lost/missing people, and the destruction of the aftermath is up to us to share. Please help if you can - even if it is just spreading awareness. There is no FEMA going to help them. 1/2

Was just there last week and it was snowing sideways. Didn't manage to get to the toe but looks like this lake (expansion of Sunwapta lake?) would've blocked the way anyway.

So true. Canada has focused on individual research chairs instead of the entire research ecosystem. A rising tide should float all boats, not just the elite ones.

Canada puts up a strong talk, but the funding just isn't there. Sure, a few elite scientists get various funded chairs, but to really progress science, you need many more perspectives.

Funding cuts are eviscerating BC arts organizations. I just donated to FBCW because the Fed has:
1. taught me a ton about the craft and business of writing
2. given me a network of writers to connect with and learn from
3. launched a MATCHING campaign - my favourite way to donate
