Western Alaska was hit hard by the recent storms. Houses floated away in Kipnuk, houses flipped over, people lost everything from the flooding that came with the storms. Please donate if you can. This group has a long history of supporting AK communities.

There needs to be more coverage of this in the news. I have read so many stories bout this on Facebook, first hand stories of the terror of that storm, and very little coverage n media.

We forget that the story of intl adoption is also one of migration. Like many ppl bought as children, my DOB was incorrect & later amended. Abusive yt adoptive ppl refuse to give me my Certificate of Citizenship, issued to me as young adult. Replacement=$600.

if ppl had 1-billionth of an inkling of how much effort, work, metabolic energy, stamina it takes to stay alive, navigate the 100s of tiny decisions & dead-ends, the sheer amount of planning, quotidian waiting, cold indifference we meet, no one would ever dare speak injuriously of homeless ppl again

unhoused people don’t fear there is nowhere to go. they KNOW there is nowhere to go: no safe shelters, no social safety net. being poor, homeless, disabled, medically vulnerable are all increasingly becoming criminalized and structurally treated as disposable, not human, “not our problem”
