I don’t understand. I talk through movies constantly, but that’s why *I don’t watch them in the theater*: I don’t want to annoy the other people in the room. Telling somebody to stop talking through the movie is completely reasonable.

And nobody can tell you to shush if you watch alone 😏

In my local mall, fully returning the shopping cart means bringing it from the parking lot to an (often broken) elevator in a neighboring garage, taking it upstairs, and back into the mall. So I give people who don’t return them the benefit of the doubt and bring 2-3 back if I’m feeling well enough.

During Thanksgiving and holidays, people want to do food drives where they collect canned goods etc... and I really would love to offer that food banks need MONEY so if you can collect and donate MONEY please do that. They can then use those funds to purchase what's needed AT DISCOUNTS.

When I say “no” and they look at me, “oh. ok. 🥺” and all I can say is “I’m sorry…” “yeah…I know…” it is the most painful and awkward thing. I feel guilty for saying no. They feel guilty for asking.

The only time I don’t feel guilty is when the response to my “no” is unexpectedly aggressive.

Back when I didn’t know gluten was causing GI issues for me, when I ate pizza it was usually a single slice from Costco. That’s approximately the same size and calorie count as an entire GF pie, but it’s only 1/6 of a pizza! I probably ate fewer than 3 pizzas per year back then.

I would be surprised if I ate more than 5 pizzas per year. I am eating an entire pie in one sitting because gluten-free pizzas are small, but on the other hand, it’s gluten-free pizza. I’m not eating it because I want to, I’m eating it because pizza is what’s available.

The corporations profiting from AI – including Microsoft, OpenAI, Nvidia, and ASML – have a vested interest in maintaining the current hype. Their oligopolistic control over both hardware and software depends on the exaggerated claim that cognitive labor can be fully outsourced to their models.

In reality, the apparent achievements of these systems rest on the wholesale theft of humans’ intellectual labor. Most notably, large language models (LLMs) have been trained by scraping books and scholarly works without the authors’ or publishers’ consent, fragmenting and remixing them into patchwork plagiarism packaged as human-like responses.

There definitely was, but it was a 6 hour (gameplay) span in between when the game told me how to access the camera and when I decided I wanted to use it for the first time, and I didn’t remember what it told me to do (hit the - button).
