'oh now the claustrophobia seems more real to me, the actor, who makes up what I imagine people using chairs as mobility aids must feel.'
Gross from every direction. Not just the conclusion of an assumption, but the steadfast view that it's the correct conclusion & that they should be lauded for it.

Jesus, so even 9-9-7 wasn't enough for them?

So can we now hourly pay for sleep, or would that only be for the megarich shitpeople responsible for this utter bullshit?
shademar.bsky.social
oh fucking every level of ew. and he's patting himself on the back to top it all off.

The other side is just as tippy-toed too! She is a cat of many colors and patterns and neuroses <3.

The fish system crashed.

I fell asleep on downstairs couch and the cat that's claimed me as territory (Lightning, upstairs cat, aka my brave sweet little protecter) came into fraught territory to find me. My SO caught the moment I woke up and we looked at each other.
My hair sort of looks like I'm close to Lightning.

They are really nice! And in the Interpol program, sometimes astoundingly nice (got a full apartment in top of old Boston clocktower!) But only because they gave away all their points.
Maybe the best timeshare I've ever heard about, and still a money vacuum...
But they have such comfy everything.
shademar.bsky.social
Like..
hey, that sounds cool. No. We probably spent 30-40K on subscription shit over 3 years trying to unload it. In a tourist town.

We could have paid so much less just to vacation.

Every Marriot has a portrait of the founders in the lobby. One is holding what looks to be plans. Mormons I think.
shademar.bsky.social
My folks (died in '19) had a Mariott linked timeshare (you have no idea how much I objected) and using points from that I've stayed at Marriotts across the US and further, and never once have I heard the folks working there not say 'Mary-yaught.' Not once.
Timeshares are a curse on your descendants

MMWR published a report in 1981 about five men with unusual cases of pneumonia in Los Angeles. In retrospect, it was the first publication to detect and inform the wider scientific community of the presence of HIV.

Last night, everyone working on MMWR was fired.

For more information about the Friday night massacre at CDC, I wrote up an analysis of who got terminated and what that means for public health.

Grateful to @saveamericamvmt.bsky.social for supporting and amplifying. We are in really terrible trouble.

We are seeing dozens of these videos every day. It's happening all over the ocuntry. I know many people are outraged but it's just continuing unabated.

This feeling of impotence is devastating. How does it end? With the country emptied of brown people and dissidents in jail?

They utterly ignore her and her family until Bondi wants to pretend it's a crime by their made-up enemy on the opposite side of the political spectrum?

Vile.

A very impressive one, and I can only imagine.

Thank you for trying to help people protect themselves (and not horribly injure themselves) in this, a time I never would have imagined when such expertise was so widely needed in the US.

RIF notices also sent to the CDC’s 2023 and 2024 class of civilian EIS officers known as its main disease detectives, per sources. These are the people who are typically the first responders in an outbreak. 4/4

Got a new water heater (old one was slowly failing) and it's magic.
I know the world is going to shit, but I just thought I'd share. Hot baths remain good.

This isn’t funny. Judges only speak to the press when they’re in extreme distress

More judges speak to the press (the NYT) about what a disaster the Supreme Court (specifically the shadow docket) has been - “incredibly demoralizing & troubling”; a “judicial crisis”; a “slap in the face to district courts.” www.nytimes.com/2025/10/11/u...

I wish I could communicate to everyone how much the journal 'Nature' does not publish things lightly.

Coming from a bio lab at Cal, the goal was always to publish in 'CNS' - Cell, Nature, Science
It is immensely difficult and uncommon.

I actually gasped. As a former public health reporter the MMWR is a big deal
elizabethjacobs.bsky.social
The editors of the CDC’s Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR) were apparently fired today.

The precursor to MMWR began in 1878 to address emerging public health threats rapidly.

We are not “great” without it. We are vulnerable to threats from sporadic foodborne illness to bioterrorism.

jfc. This report lies at the absolute core of CDC's mission. It's so important in so many ways.

Light shining through dew drops on a fennel blossom.

#EastCoastKin #Macro
A closeup of dew drops on a fennel blossom stalk. It is not in focus, so the drops appear as large, glowing, somewhat translucent dots ranging from gold to almost white. They vary in size. At the bottom of the image there is a blossom with dew that is a little bit more in focus, and it looks like a cluster of gold jewels.
