"Instead of attacking educators for exercising free speech, Florida’s leaders should be fixing the mess they created—or step aside. They’ve turned our education system into a toxic display of arrogance and control."

It was October 12, 1979, and the Miami News was reporting that it appeared as though beer would be sold for the first time at the Orange Bowl during the upcoming Dolphins - Bills game.
A tentative agreement was nearly finalized to allow beer sales at the Orange Bowl starting Sunday during the Miami Dolphins vs. Buffalo Bills game. Miami Mayor Maurice Ferré announced the development, calling it a proud moment.

City Manager Joseph Grassie and Dolphins managing partner Joe Robbie reached a “basic agreement” permitting beer sales, pending final approval. The city had been negotiating with Robbie since January 1978, after lifting a ban on beer sales.

Key points of the deal:
	•	The city would make stadium improvements in exchange for the Dolphins covering the cost of beer-dispensing equipment (around $330,000).
	•	Robbie’s concession agreement would extend from 1980 through 1986, with the city receiving 35% of the proceeds.
	•	Some final details—like who pays for equipment installation—still needed to be settled.

Workers were already preparing by putting up beer signs at the Orange Bowl in anticipation of the sale’s approval.

Photo caption: Workers Jack Chappell and Russ Rendefrey were seen installing beer signs at the stadium. might suspect that an accord already had been reached. Electric Budweiser signs were being hung up and Budweiser stickers were being slapped on plastic containers.

Assuming an agreement is reached, said assistant director of public facilities Richard Roach, beer probably will be distributed only from kegs at concession stands this Sunday. He said there wouldn’t be time to hire vendors to sell it in the stands.

Roach also said beer probably would be sold only in the lower deck areas, where there is space for the kegs.

Robbie’s state license to sell beer at the stadium was approved earlier this week.

Unhappy with the failure of the city and the county to build a new stadium and the lack of agreement on beer sales, Robbie has been talking with city officials in Los Angeles about moving the club there to replace the Los Angeles Rams, who are moving to Anaheim next year.

Texas has replaced some of the guardsmen they recently sent to Chicago "for not being 'in compliance' with its validation process."

"The move came amid criticism on social media over pictures that showed some of the Guard members appearing to be overweight..."

Sure sounds like Graham Platner is the exact opposite of whatever the hell Susan Collins is.

And that's friggin' awesome.

We have armed secret police kidnapping people off the street based on the color of their skin.

When we win: we will haul them before a Senate committee. The masks will come off. There will be consequences.

It's pretty obvious that Trump sees only Republicans and Republican-led states as worthy of his and the federal government's attention. The only Americans that matter to him are the ones who vote for him.

Maybe there's a reason to have Trump administration officials appear on Sunday morning talk shows but I can't think of any. They lie, they avoid answering questions and they demean the host and the network.

Why are they being invited on to begin with?

Wasn't aware of the letters and Palmer Raids. Quite aware of the internment camps & McCarthyism. Didn't know the last 2 involved masked agents in unmarked cars conducting kidnappings on streets or extrajudicial killings on the high seas...but I know very little about history, as you've pointed out.

Rooting for the guys wearing masks jumping out of unmarked cars & snatching up people in broad daylight on America's streets or the folks performing extrajudicial killings on the high seas?

Probably a good time to think hard about about why these things have never happened before in America.

The people who want violent protests to happen are Trump, Stephen Miller, Kristi Noem, Pete Hegseth, Tom Homan, and other senior appointees in his admin. They are doing everything they possibly can to provoke people to violence and it is obvious that is what they hope for daily.
