Glad I'm not in Melbourne today TBH. Warm and sunny across the Tasman.
Good to see you're progressing in your recovery. Hope all is going smoothly.
Not a 24hr operation, but there is a fuel stop in West Gippsland (Welshpool) that has an exceptional Indian food offering. A pleasant surprise out that way.
Behind this unassuming door, is a complex of tunnels that extend all the way across to Constitution Hill. Would make a nifty shortcut to Parnell, from Victoria St East.

Tough call. Not yet 9:00pm so you've still got room to move...
Time to start the readjustment process for Melbourne time, in readiness for Tokyo time.

This is how I’m gonna look every time someone dislikes one of my posts.
Parnell seems much the same, but also different. Mix of discrete, established money and 20-somethings starting out in the world. But the younger set probably living in new build apartments rather than run-down housing stock (mostly gentrified now). It's still a good density though. #RunTheCity
... and onward... a short stroll through a small native bush reserve. The type of shortcut only those familiar with the area tend to know about. #RunTheCity
Well overdue for #coffee so stopping in Parnell en-route on a family mission. Going straight for the underestimated caffeine kick from a Chemex. Washed Costa Rica: low acidity and a subtle nutty flavour (almost candlenut).

Rehydration continues... #RunTheCity
Similarly; nothing until the Sunset Series in Feb/March. Due some rest time.
Not normally a Steinlager drinker, but it's against my religion not to drink free beer. Thanks to the generous sponsorship of Lions Nathan (ie. Kirin) I get to smash a post #RunTheCity breakfast beer!
And done - 1:50:44, so 44 seconds outside my target time but faster than Melbourne. Hills and humidity probably got the better of me as the climb up Shelley Beach Rd (17km) was really starting to hurt. Still, made it to the end to finish strong. #RunTheCity
Seems all the Auckland ferries have been commandeered for the D-Day like operation getting people to the start of #RunTheCity. Not a bad way to travel TBH.
Right-o, off to bed to be properly rested for #RunTheCity tomorrow. Early wake up for the ferry across to Devonport for the start.
Passing Victoria Park on the bus and I can see preparations are under way for #RunTheCity tomorrow. Tomorrow morning it will be a packed with tired people who have finished their nominated #running distance.
Auckland has mostly done a terrible job of preserving older CBD buildings, but a few gems like Eden Hall still remain. And the former Brooklyn Hotel is looking nice as apartments. I can recall a time when it was cheap, but dubious, apartments that various friends lived in over the years.
Lucky enough to have attended a screening of Suspiria with Goblin performing the soundtrack live.
Old school hotel. No 13th floor. #TravelDay
Phase 3 of #TravelDay completed. Cleared immigration, checked in to accom, collected race pack for #RunTheCity. Been on the ground for 3 hours and enjoying live music and beers with old mates at 95bfm. Good times! 😂

A historic moment as Treaty passes Vic Parliament, the first time in our history that a Treaty has been enshrined in law.

To those who have fought for this - thankyou.

This must act as a guiding light towards federal truth, Treaty & justice for all First Nations people.
