Every single person I grew up with is a little bit strange - a thing I grew up believing was a compliment. To be weird was to have a crystalline sense of your own identity and resist the imposition of others, which is why half the people I went to high school with are gurus and capoeira masters.

made chili for the week with pinto beans grown by Yolkan Farm just outside Portland and omg they are the freshest creamiest yummiest beans. one thing i really love about portland is walking to the farmer's market and getting most of my meal ingredients from farms within like 10-20 miles of my house

Police officers who publicly declare that they’ll quit if a mayoral candidate they dislike wins the election are (1) usually bluffing—sure buddy, toss away that paycheck and pension—and (2) exactly the sort of cops cities would be better off without, ones who don’t see themselves as public servants.
