Today marks the anniversary of John Brown’s 1859 raid on Harpers Ferry. His attempt to seize the federal armory and spark a slave uprising ended in defeat, but the raid has endured as a symbol of radical resistance.

there's this constant concerted effort to paint israel as "normal" - they have pride parade parades, they're a democracy, they're (wink wink) almost european - but you only have to find out like five things about them to realize they're collectively rabid
You won’t find a single initiative by an Israeli cabinet minister that wants to kill babies on purpose.

You know about Ben-Gvir and the wedding.

Which one?

Where there was dancing.

Which one?

Pretending to stab Palestinians.

It was a disgusting event in which someone stabbed the picture of a baby. And it was disgusting. [In 2015, at a wedding that Ben-Gvir attended, dancing guests held up a photograph of a Palestinian baby who had been burned to death by right-wing Israeli extremists several months earlier, and one guest stabbed the picture with a knife. Ben-Gvir was the lead arsonist’s attorney. He later called the display at the wedding “stupidity.”]
ben-gvir one of the most reliable guys for getting me to think about this dynamic
every time I listen to what israeli politicians commanders etc are actually saying they are like "we are genociding these people, and it's great, except we need to kill more quickly, especially the children." every time I read the NYT it's like "israel's muscular security stance has drawn criticism"
I've been thinking we should switch to a recording dApp that runs on the ethereum blockchain. that way our listeners can access the podcast directly through their NFTs

Sure, buddy. That’s a real thing that definitely happened.
She called me a Nazi!

So we start talking and she says, “Well, I saw you get out of your truck with your boots, and you're like a big white man. I guess I just assumed because Elon's a Nazi and you fit the profile …” I stopped her and I was like, “My last name is Goldman, what heritage do you think that is?” She's like, “That's Jewish. My wife is Jewish.” I said, ‘OK, so you just accused me of being a Nazi when I'm a Jew. And you said that your wife was Jewish, so I'm assuming you're gay. Is that a safe assumption?” She said yes, and I said, “OK, so did you ever get profiled anytime in your life for being gay?” And she says, “Yeah, all the time. I hated it.” And I was like, “Well, do you realize that you just profiled me based off of the vehicle that I drive and me wearing work boots and being a big white guy as being a Nazi when it's completely something totally different?” And she broke down in tears and apologized. I'm a huge supporter in the gay community out here. So to call me a Nazi homophobe, it just blew my mind.

Everything is wrong with this, but imo the most egregious thing is the fаggоtizаtion of the Beholder.

it's kind of nice that all the tech companies are coming together to make going on the computer a universally miserable experience
This is the future of Windows. Microsoft wants to rewrite Windows to turn computers into AI PCs that you talk to. It's now bringing AI features to all Windows 11 PCs today, in a bid to convince you to talk to your PC and let AI control it. Full details 👇 www.theverge.com/news/799768/...

I'm looking at the doom emacs github page and to say my previous comment was accurate is understating things
I like clicking on things like a normal person
before taking this course it was suggested to me that I should just go ahead and learn vim or emacs so I did all my C coding for the quarter in emacs. my previous IDE experience being I think eclipse. made the course 10x harder
I took three CS courses. the third one was a systems course and that was what convinced me not to do a minor lol
like at that point it's clear that your issue is with the ideological beliefs. which is fine. but doing a little dance where you pretend they're being weird about it sucks
seeing someone say "we should make sure our signs align with our ideological beliefs about the actual root of the issues" and being like "look at that fuckin weirdo" is itself weird and cringe

“why would you want to record a podcast in your text editor?” first of all emacs isn’t a text editor it’s the elisp interpreter so get that straight
didn't you check to see if we could record the podcast in emacs or something like that
it's really cute that you think that's moving in a direction and not just doing a pirouette
there's a guy who parks his cybertruck down the street from me sometimes and I'm going to think about this every time I see it
"I was married, but I’m not married anymore. Women don't like the vehicle," says Roger Davis, a Cybertruck owner.

Davis also uses the Grok feature in the car: "Her name is Aura, and I use her as a therapist."
