We really fucked up as a society when we went all in on STEM and let these nerds think they were geniuses for dismissing the humanities.

Every great scientist and inventor of the 20th century was at minimum a hobbyist artist, poet, or musician.

Things that tech bros would be working to make AI do if they were normal people and not rich freaks who have no real problems:

• automatically block loan scam calls
• wash dishes
• fold laundry
• delete hundreds of cold call emails I get for services I couldn't approve at work if I wanted to

I have the jade one from Lanshin (not the FANCY jade, just the regular jade) and I have dropped it like 10K times and it hasn't broken, if that's what you're worried about. If you're more worried about your head than the comb, you don't do scraping on your head, just circles, tapping, and brushing

I do full head gua sha with a jade comb every day, and it has been amazing for making my hair grow faster (including new growth at places that I thought had given up a few years ago, but now are just normally growing)

It's not about institutional power. Obviously these trappings have always been in opposition to institutions, and institutions have reacted accordingly by withholding power in response. It's the power of being monstrous; inherent to the holder, and because it is not given, cannot be taken away.

These are all flagrant lies, unsourced yet printed in a newspaper that allegedly fact checks things. The rest of it is meandering panic-bait that treats jail breaking LLMs. They don’t even describe the virus! They just said someone made one. Bullshit!

One answer is to look at the data. After the launch of GPT-5 in August, some thought that A.I. had hit a plateau. Expert analysis suggests this isn’t true. GPT-5 can do things no other A.I. can do. It can hack into a web server. It can design novel forms of life. It can even build its own A.I. (albeit a much simpler one) from scratch.
