That struck me as crazy the first time I saw it, too

Great to hear! Can you hook me up with one of those tote bags? They’re nice.

I just saw The Librarians today at WNED Studios as part of the Buffalo International Film Festival. If you haven't seen it and are against book banning (which you should be if you're my friend), you should go see it as soon as it is available in your area. Infuriating that this is happening in 2025!

As book banning sweeps across the U.S. at an unprecedented rate, brave librarians emerge as first responders in the fight for democracy. A film by Kim A. Snyder.

Opens UK 9/26 @berthadochouse.bsky.social, US 10/03 @filmforumnyc.bsky.social, rollout to follow.

“The film balances its heavy themes with moments of light-hearted humour, principally in the fashion of hilarious one-liners from the high school librarians that act as the documentary film’s heroic, and immensely empathetic, underdogs.” @thelibrariansfilm.bsky.social
The Librarians (2025) at the Bodleian: reviewed - Cherwell
Kim A. Snyder’s The Librarians (2025) draws the audience into a pernicious web of censorship, repression, and culture-war collisions.

Easy to tell Pope Leo’s mother was a librarian. Maybe Kim A. Snyder can get him a link to @thelibrariansfilm.bsky.social when she’s at the Rome Film Festival.

Pope Leo quotes Hannah Arendt:

“The ideal subject of totalitarian rule is not the convinced Nazi or the convinced Communist, but people for whom the distinction between fact and fiction and the distinction between true and false no longer exist."

Hunkering down for the Nor’Easter at the Jersey Shore today. Which Diane Keaton movie should I watch while the wind roars?

Good lesson.

The generous portion of my heart says, “This is what’s behind book banning.” But then the rational portion of my brain steps up and says, “Nah, it’s still just hate.”

Abigail Friedman of “2 Kids Interviews” on book banning: “It feels like they don’t want kids to be like how I am. And it doesn’t feel good. It’s almost as if they’re trying to ban the actual people.” 🎯 @thelibrariansfilm.bsky.social

I’ve done lots of interviews over the last 4 years, but this chat with “2 Kid Interviews” Abigail & Violet is among the most memorable. They asked such a great question: What’s one scene in @thelibrariansfilm.bsky.social you wish everyone in America would see?

Thanks, but are you sure? There’s another of my comments later in the film that always seems to elicit a reaction 😉

Jack Ciattarelli’s
paternal grandparents had immigrated to NJ in the 1900s from Valentano, Lazio, Italy.
So his own parents were granted birthright citizenship, no?
It never ceases to amaze me how people like Jack see no contradiction in condemning todays immigrants.

GOP gubernatorial candidate Jack Ciattarelli doesn’t believe in birthright citizenship.

So, he mustn’t want the votes of the tens of thousands of US-born adult children of undocumented immigrants in NJ — because he mustn’t believe they should have the right to vote at all.

Taking it all to the grave, honey. In fact, I’m so sick of this shit show, I’d like to hitch a ride with Diane Keaton.

💯 this! I knew exactly how & where I could hide up to 30 kids to protect them from a shooter in the library. Not only did I work in fear of a shooting, but dreading that it would happen during lunch, when 120+ kids would be there. And parents dared to call me a pornographer, pedophile & groomer.

The grooming accusations are even more offensive because of the epidemic of school shootings.

Every educator in this country has decided if, when, and how we'd give up our very lives to shield your children. Some of our colleagues around the nation have paid the ultimate price...
