My problem with the Pokemon games has always been they have multiple accessibility walls. You could never get absolutely everything unless you had the money, the internet, the connections & social resources. And the younger the person the less access they have. Pokemon wasn't for isolated poor kids
samaburime.bsky.social
"Hey kids, that version you bought? You'll have to check a guide online to see if it has the pokemon you like so if you didn't do that or understand the gimmick you're shit out of luck. Good luck getting your parents to buy you the same game twice!"
samaburime.bsky.social
Also especially for older games, that meant evolution depended on accessibility. Like 'No friends?' 'No kids your same age around?' 'No kids who have the same equipment?' 'Can't make it to the gamestop/special event for that special edition pokemon? No evolution lmao. literally 'FUCK THEM KIDS'

Straight up worst part of Pokemon has always been that you could never get all of them from one game.

About one in five homes in Navajo Nation and the Hopi reservation have no electricity. So, our partners at Native Renewables are doing something about it. Since 2015, the Indigenous-led nonprofit has installed off-grid solar in 123 homes.

Oh, another option as well could be to get in contact with any small local churches that are actually safe & openly pro-LGBTQ+ and anti-racist etc (We have a few in the Twin Cities). They may also know specific families or people to connect with to get things to those who directly need it
samaburime.bsky.social
Some may just link you directly to the same shelters you've already looked into but I'm sure at least someone at one of those providers will know of smaller, maybe more local efforts to get things to people who need it outside the general donation orgs. Always worth a try.

A lot of shelters won't accept stuffed animals (understandably due to sanitary issues) so I've been trying to figure out where I can donate them since for people like myself who collect(ed) some & didn't play with them, or who stored them very well, they're basically new so I hope this works!

It also just occurred to me to try researching & contacting your local Social Services providers!👀
Going right to the source, I'm sure they'll know what resources are most directly needed for families and where to donate to get them directly to those who need it, especially kids!

GOOD NEWS! Researchers have developed a cancer vaccine that has shown STUNNING results, PREVENTING up to 88% of MULTIPLE aggressive cancers by harnessing dual-pathway nanoparticles that train the immune system to recognize and destroy tumor cells. In some cases, it COMPLETELY prevented metastasis.
