Worth noting that McConnell refusing to whip votes to convict Trump at his impeachment trial (or vote himself to convict) is *why* we’re now in a position where Hegseth is the Defense Secretary. If McConnell is looking for the person at fault, he might want to consult a mirror.

100000% agree

He was an outstanding President in so many ways. Governed with real, populist, pro-worker, anti-corporate economic policy

But part of the job of being President is ensuring that your legacy remains. You need to be political, or else the policies matter less
Agree or disagree with @LarrySabato on this? Can we ever really know what would have happened? bluevirginia.us/2025/01/satu...

There is no reason Donald Trump should be celebrated in any fashion by anyone. He’s a convicted felon who should be in prison right now—a tyrannical orange monster, with a broken brain.

New Marist poll: Trump starts with a net-negative favorability rating, 44% favorable, 49% unfavorable. This destroys the idea Trump has a mandate. Wish Democratic leaders would see these polls and realize Trump is not popular. Stop talking common ground and start fighting!
Read this thread to understand what Congressional Republicans & Trump want to do. Some of the lowlights:

-Raise taxes on single parents

-Raise the cost of prescription drugs

-Give massive tax breaks & handouts to big corporations

They’re all about the rich & care zero about hardworking people
NEW: My staff just got ahold of this memo from House Budget Committee Republicans. It's lengthy and hard to digest but it tells us exactly how Republicans plan to sell out the American people for another round of tax cuts to the rich. We're breaking down the highlights as we go:

If Joe Biden released a statement repeatedly getting the name of one of his appointees wrong Sean Hannity would anchor special coverage and the NYT would publish 5 op-eds questioning if he should be in assisted living
Trump gets the name of his own appointee wrong lol

It’s amazing to me that politicians don’t commit to post first on @bsky.app and to engage with constituents here

THIS is more powerful than CNN , MSNBC, The Post will ever be.

You can broadcast for 9 mins on a declining medium, or engage here and start a real discussion.

Which is more powerful?

Can someone explain why TikTok is a bigger national security concern than a social media platform run by a South African technofeudal oligarch actively interfering in our elections and sabotaging our national interests here and abroad?

one thing i’m stuck on is this idea that “masculine” energy means license to act like a chud in public, as opposed to more traditional notions of public masculinity, such as those that put a premium on the performance of integrity, honesty, honor and generosity.

Facebook? Turned your uncle in a J6er
Telegram? Lets terrorists recruit.
Instagram? Depression generator.
YouTube? Neo-Nazi speedrun
Twitter? Monetizing Holocaust Denialism.
So let's ban TikTok because China will do bad things with a giant social media companies.

The facts are, the ACA saved millions with pre-existing conditions and set standards for care.

But now, more than a decade later, with what we now know, it’s time to take the insurance companies out of the mix.
The subsidies they get are enormous. We don’t need them as middlemen.

The Hegseth hearing is doing one thing incredibly well: it’s establishing that when his leadership at DoD fails, it’ll be clear that GOP Senators knew, excused it, and they own it. Serious concerns about experience & judgment are literally being laughed off.

Final mail and provisionals were added for Virginia special elections

Boosted Dem numbers a bit

SD-32

2024 Margin: Harris +21.6%

2025 Special: Dem +23.6%

SD-10

2024 Margin: Trump +26.9%

2025 Special: GOP +15.67%

HD-22

2024 Margin: Harris +22.1%

Remember these numbers when 1. Trump tries to claim credit, he didn’t do anything; and 2. When he inevitably tanks the economy
JUST IN: The U.S. added 256,000 jobs in December, surpassing expectations and bringing the total for 2024 to 2.2 million. The unemployment rate dipped to 4.1%, and wages grew 3.9% over the past year, far outpacing inflation.

Richmond, Virginia has no water. Los Angeles is on fire. Atlanta is getting snow later this week. And apparently the incoming president wants to annex Greenland and Panama.

Somebody needs to unplug 2025 and reboot it.
