Really looking forward to returning to @baltimorecomiccon.bsky.social this weekend - mostly so I can catch up with everyone I missed in the the utter chaos of NYCC!
@fredvanlente.bsky.social and I will be set up at table 118 - see you there!

I am begging people outside the book industry to understand that what we’re experiencing is not merely a surge in book banning but a coordinated effort to end libraries and librarianship in America. 4/4

Pretty much every reboot/relaunch of the past 20 years has opened with the team leaders standing over a table of super hero head shots trying to pick out who's going to be on the team - the absolute WORST trope in super hero comics uuuuuuggggh

I liked the cartoon from the aughts and some of the comics (Grant Morrison's run, the classic Giffen/DeMatteis stuff) but yeah it mostly feels like JL authors are more focused on setting up a shelf all the cool looking action figures they like rather than telling a compelling story.

NYCC was pretty great (even though it took me two whole days to recover), especially Sunday when I got to hang out with this knucklehead all day. Comic-con just isn't the same without @fredvanlente.bsky.social.

Sitting in the Civics for All panel at NYCC. So inspiring what has been accomplished (5 years, 5 million comics given) and what is on the near horizon, in particular the "Know Your Rights" comic that is super exciting.

Just found out that the Baltimore marathon is happening at the same time as Baltimore Comic-Con AND the start/finish line is directly between the hotel I'm staying at and the convention center. Looks like I'm swimming to the con on Saturday!

Positive: the bifurcation of markets. There are many more audiences willing to buy & read comics than there were when I broke in, and so many more ways to get them.

Neg: drawing comics used to be a middle-class job. Many publishers now expect artists to live well below the poverty line. #lieberAMA

What changes throughout the years has been the most positive and the most negative for the comics industry, in your opinion?
