This is so obscene. Create the conditions that put people on the street, then blame them for trying to survive.

Highly recommended (as is episode 1).
Episode 2 of my Collateral Damage podcast is out today. Ryan Frederick killed a police officer during a pot raid on his home. He was tried for capital murder, but convicted of manslaughter.

We'd later learn that police informants were breaking into homes to obtain probable cause for raids.
Episode Two: A Death in the Dark
How the pre-planned no-knock raid — a violent, volatile tactic that became a common tool of the drug war — leads to tragic consequences.

“Every day, the formula is the same: The feds come out to clear the driveway, pushing nonviolent protesters out, they get in a stand-off with protesters, and eventually unleash a ridiculous amount of munitions—typically pepper balls and tear gas—and make brutal arrests."
Violence at Portland’s ICE facility is coming from one side: the officers
“People of all ages showed up on Sunday, some of which had a small picket line going, others blowing bubbles and using their voices to condemn [law enforcement’s] behavior. But it doesn’t matter what ...

Why do US infrastructure projects cost so much & take so long?

Consider the Hudson rail tunnel:
1995—Studies
2009—Construction
2010—NJ Gov Christie kills it
2011—Project relaunch
2015—Fed support
2017—GOP Congress kills funding
2021/22—Biden funds it
2023—Construction
2025—Trump claims to cancel it
Trump announced today, seemingly at random, that he is cancelling fed funding for Gateway Tunnel, a tunnel for intercity & commuter trains under the Hudson River.

The motivation for the cancellation—which is likely to be contested—appears to be purely the president’s hatred of Sen Schumer.
"If this system of transportation collapses, the Northeastern economy and the economy of the country collapses." The most important economic development project in the entire nation threatened with cancellation: www.nytimes.com/2025/10/15/n...

The CFPB is one of the most staunch financial watchdogs for the American people.

The agency has returned at least $20B to the victims of financial fraud and abuse since 2011.

It's no longer protecting consumers now...BECAUSE THIS REGIME DOESN'T WANT IT TO!

If your city’s trying hard to “stop the bleeding” in your downtown & waterfront, fill vacant buildings/spaces, and create positive momentum, this article might interest you. It’s more media from my work last week in Kingston, Jamaica, but it could apply to lots of struggling cities around the world.

NEW — I dug into the story of ICE abducting a 13-year-old boy in Massachusetts and moving him 500 miles across state lines without notifying his mother, local cop's complicity, and how the federal government's justification for such cruelty is already falling apart:
ICE took a 13-year-old they said had a gun. Local cops say he didn’t.
Now he's detained 500 miles away from his Massachusetts home.
