Whether it's young Democrats expressing their support for DEI or young Republicans saying "I love Hitler,' both sides have expressed controversial opinions.

Important: "We should guard against an impulse to speak about failures in ways which become instrumentally self-aggrandising, which perpetuate a sense that failure should lead to individualised success or personal development, or which exert a kind of pressure to triumph-over-adversity." 2/2

Where is the money? @qmul.bsky.social haven't paid many cleaners their overtime since August; unions haven’t had their Facilities Time paid since August; many Teaching Associates & Teaching Fellows have not had any pay in September. All since the new financial year.

YES! This is such excellent news. Utrecht University now supports Knowledge Commons.

PLEASE ask YOUR library today if they will consider supporting us. We are free to all to use, but we NEED university support to make that possible.

*FIFTEEN THOUSAND JOBS LOST*.
If this were in a sector in which the PM could go and do a photoshoot looking like One Of The People, we’d have had a government intervention by now.

Great interview of climate scientist Mike Mann and virologist Peter Hotez on the war on science by special interest groups. My colleague Mann endured vicious attacks after his pioneering (and solidly confirmed) ‘hockey stick’ curve of #globalwarming.

You cannot force 'history' to like you. Most world leaders learn this late in their careers, or never.

If Trump had won the prize, the main effect would have been to diminish the honour and value of it. The committee which awards the peace prize understands that better than most.

MIT rejects "compact" proposed by the Trump administration.
MIT prez wrote: it "would restrict freedom of expression and our independence as an institution" and "is inconsistent with our core belief that scientific funding should be based on scientific merit alone."
