Westminster parties were a choice of shades of the same: Centre-Lib socially, Centre-Right leaning neo-lib economically, pro-Israel, pro-nuclear etc.
Then the Tories & now Labour shat it were pulled far right & then replaced by UKIP/Reform, & there's now a real electable left in the Greens.
Game on.

It says something about how distorted political debate has become is in the UK that you almost never hear a frontline politician talking seriously about harm reduction with drugs yet almost everyday a frontbencher from a national party will make a barely concealed racist claim about immigration.

That's true. I couldn't honestly claim to teach a proper RME lesson 40 times per year, with the possible exception of when I include my unit on moral dilemmas and philosophy (and it's arguable that what we do there isn't really intended by the curriculum).

We could not teach religion in a secular country at all, and just teach philosophy?
There is a benefit to religious teaching in that they hopefully learn to respect other belief systems.
However, that could be reinforced as part of moral philosophy, about respecting others' culture and choices?

Just watched Newsround with my class, they finally noticed Gaza.
But from the report, you would think there were two countries at war and they were showing you the mutual destruction.
Had to pause it and explain to all the kids that all the ruins were in Gaza, and it was being annihilated by Israel.
