Same in DC. It’s been two months.

Still constant helicopters overhead. Abandoned work trucks where neighbors have been kidnapped by ICE. Armed national guard walking the streets. Feds posting up in former unhoused spaces to keep people away.

What I learned from Miss Major was persistence and also keeping a sense of humor. I was lucky to see her work in various organizing meetings over the years. She was a model of how to be a good elder. Truly grateful for everything she did to make the world better. Time for the rest of us to continue.

I always think about David Graeber’s Direct Action which shares so many wonderful examples of this, but especially the anti-highway protestors in the UK that wore giant flouncy dresses on stilts so people could hind under them with jackhammers to plant trees in the asphalt.

Whatever dawg, every single day I see people's lives changed because they were able to access online community & get a request for aid out. Fed & housed. Krotpkin says it's the choice we make about our relationship to who we give to that makes it charity, charity is top down & comes with conditions.

If you're comfortable, & you have everything you need taken care of with a little extra, you don't have to give to mutual aid, but why wouldn't you? The hoarding mindset is capitalist. You can easily be part of the community that supports real life vulnerable folks. We're all we got. You gon learn.
