The documentary I made with Miss Major 10 years ago is on Vimeo on Demand. If you want to spend some time with her on screen tonight and learn some abolitionist trans history while you're at it, it's free to rent with the code "shinebright" vimeo.com/ondemand/major

new albums from Pink Pantheress and Amber Mark?? i may have to drive my body to work instead of the club today, but i will be bopping my head and dancing while testing samples
playing phone tag with a dermatologist office to get a new patient appointment and something about the repeated calling, trying to time it to reach a live person, reminds me of phoning in to radio station contests
also if you call your iphone repeatedly from the same number without going to vmail, it should break through the silent setting and force it to ring/vibrate
the two paintings i showed tonight. both are 18”x24”, watercolor and gouache on cotton paper, done last week while on my long-awaited weeklong painting vacation/retreat on Tybee Island.
abstract landscape in yellows, orange, and purple-browns, with wide horizontal bands of color and two opposite color circles reflecting against each other abstract painting with yellow background and bright multi- colored organic shapes creating a large scene with lots of small moments
this evening i went to a three-hour (!!) critique circle and had two of my recent paintings discussed by strangers for the first time ever. the adrenaline swings of the evening nearly took me out, but i persevered (and will be returning)

You are very compelling but I must turn my attention back to all my little self-created assignments now

this date is also @browndamon.bsky.social’s birthday!! 🎉 we’ve been friends for 25+ years! 💜🐢🎧
one year ago on this date i visited the cannabis dispensary in Cherokee for the first time. i risked driving in flash flooding which was a questionable decision, though nothing bad happened.

these rains would continue for another 24 hours as Hurricane Helene passed over our region
six years ago on this date i took a photo of my car odometer at 109,000 miles even. yesterday i took a photo of my odometer at 200,000.
video of the hawk through the screen door
four years ago on this date a hawk landed in our carport; twelve years ago on this date a young black bear visited the front deck and ate up the bird feeder. (the pictures are so blurry because it was raining and my hands were shaking from adrenaline)
a collage of photos of a small fuzzy black bear sitting on a wooden deck in front of a broken bird feeder with piles of seed all around them
it’s possible I’ve had a thousand iced lattes in my life (so far) and i still internally feel a “fuck yeah iced latte!!” after that first sip of a good one

i went to a concert last night for the first time in……?!?!?

good news: live music from a great band in a great venue is still a fantastic way to spend time as a human being, highly recommend
