"suam elegantem propositionem, verbis pulcherrima compositione atque ornatu perspicuo decoratis, in lingua seu idiomate, ut praetangitur, cathalano"

POLITICO: “.. They referred to Black people as monkeys and ‘the watermelon people’ and mused about putting their political opponents in gas chambers. They talked about raping their enemies .. and lauded Republicans who they believed support slavery.

Only after they have the weapons to defend themselves and force a ceasefire or a Russian retreat. They are asking for weapons first and foremost.

Then, you can add external security guarantees if you wish. But Ukraine already had them and they were of not much use. Without a strongly armed Ukraine, external guaranties are weak.

Btw, possibly the greatest defender of the "more weapons for Ukraine, more economic pressure for Russia" option is, surprise, Zelensky and the Ukranian gov't.

But they don't know what they need, you say?

Heck, we still have a landline. And we even use it!

Forget the bog bodies, make room for me besides the T-Rex.

If anyone needs me I will be in the museum, lying down next to the bog bodies.
Did people really memorize phone numbers before cell phones, or is that just a movie thing?
2? Questions
I was watching some old shows from the 90s and noticed people would just dial numbers from memory - like they'd call their friends or family without looking anything up.
Made me wonder if that was actually normal back then? Did people genuinely have all their important numbers memorized, or did most folks keep a little address book or written list nearby?

Again, assurances are effectively the same as guarantees:

And you cannot have a ceasefire without surrendering even more territory or without more and better weapons.

Grinding the Russian invaders to dust and forcing their retreat, or at least a ceasefire, is a positive outcome.
ranv.bsky.social
That's the only option you gave. If there is another better than sending more and better weapons to Ukraine and putting more economic pressure on Russia, it hasn't been seen and it's not expected to be seen any time soon.

Not really; some people in the US helped Hitler, but the official policy was isolationist, and even before US entered the war, it helped greatly the allies.

So, US interest helped defeat nazism, and you say it never does any good?
ranv.bsky.social
Oh, the idea is not novel, ofc; never claimed it was. It just haven't been done (enough) so far.

Actually, when it has been done a bit (never enough) it's worked quite well. Far better than not sending more weapons and wishing for not having given up nukes, I'd say.
ranv.bsky.social
Same as guarantees.
ranv.bsky.social
That's why they need more and better weapons. You just supported my position.
ranv.bsky.social
They are not pretty maxed out. EU is doing far less than it could do, just as the US.

And this in theory. In practice the enforcement is weak and some roundabouts are tacitly allowed.

Hitler begs to disagree.
