The card depicts an old Halloween tradition of divination or fortune-telling. A young woman in a formal, flowing gown is holding a lit candle and looking into an oval, floor-length mirror. Her reflection shows her in the same dress, but a different person, a well-dressed man, is shown standing behind her. The man is meant to be her future husband.
The postcard is also decorated with other Halloween imagery:
A black cat arches its back on the mantle over the mirror.
A crescent moon with an owl on it is in the center of the mantle, flanked by two lit candles and two bats.
Below the text, a carved jack-o'-lantern, a pumpkin, and ears of corn are shown.
