My blog will celebrate Pride Month with one post a day highlighting the presence and persistence of queer people from ancient times to the Renaissance. Let's debunk the myth that queerness is a modern phenomenon: we have always been here.
And that’s where we’ll stay.

Reading people giving out 1-2 stars reviews to books because of a bad audio narration really gives me an itch to reconsider the whole "audiobooks are the same as books" stance.
What. The. Fuck.
Is like giving a book a bad review because you didn't like the font they used in printing. Fuck you.

I know, I know.
We don't.
Screenshot of the headline of a magazine wondering how to talk about a show from a literary work by a guy accused of sexual assault by multiple women, and whose public response has been less than satisfactory so far.

Still the only rendition of Galactus that actually works.
#FantasticFour
Cartoon mashup illustration featuring Snoopy and Charlie Brown in the style of Marvel Comics' Galactus and Silver Surfer. Snoopy is depicted as Galactus, wearing a red and blue cosmic suit with a large, angular helmet and a stern expression. He's holdin his supper dish in his mouth 'cause, as we all know, he hungers. Charlie Brown stands on a silver surfboard, resembling the Silver Surfer, with his iconic, "Good Grief" look.

Recently, my book THEY CALLED US ENEMY was banned – again – in Tennessee. Book bans are out of control. Huge parts of American history are being restricted. To join me in standing up for the freedom to read, go to pen.org/action. @penamerica.bsky.social @topshelfcomix.bsky.social @idwpublishing.com

Casa degli Atellani is closed.

At 65 Corso Magenta lies a ghost of Milan’s layered history: gifted by Ludovico il Moro, reimagined by Piero Portaluppi, and sold with dreams of hotel luxury. Come and visit it with me, hoping its future won't be behind closed doors.

Interior view of a frescoed Renaissance room in Casa degli Atellani, featuring wooden wall paneling and an arched ceiling with floral motifs. Through an open door, the symmetrical garden and Leonardo’s reconstructed vineyard are visible in the background. Overlaid text reads: “A visit at Casa degli Atellani without getting arrested” with the URL www.shelidon.it and swirling neon light trails on a dark background. A collage over a faded background of Milan’s Castello Sforzesco. The collage includes: a Renaissance portrait of Ludovico il Moro, the façade of Casa degli Atellani, and a view of the Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie. On the right, black serif text reads: “The Sforzas. Ludovico il Moro donates the house to a loyal family in an effort to create an intellectual and artistic district around his castle, which included Santa Maria delle Grazie.” Vertical text reads “shelidon.it” with a thin arrow. A collage set against a faint background of Leonardo’s Virgin of the Rocks. The collage includes three images: the central portion of The Last Supper, a pergola-covered courtyard in Casa degli Atellani, and a close-up of green grapes on a vine. To the right, elegant serif text reads: “Enters Leonardo. After completing his Last Supper in Santa Maria delle Grazie, Leonardo receives a vineyard located near the back garden of Casa degli Atellani. It was an effort to get him to stay.” Vertical text reads “shelidon.it” with an arrow. A collage placed over a translucent background of a Renaissance painting of the Madonna and Child. The collage includes: a vaulted ceiling with frescoed figures attributed to Bernardino Luini, a similarly patterned ceiling with floral motifs, and a vintage architectural floor plan of Casa degli Atellani. To the right, serif text reads: “A beloved pupil. Later renovations will reveal and lead to the rediscovery of some frescos done by an artist that’s considered one of the most brilliant amongst Leonardo’s pupils in Lombardia: Bernardino Luini.” Vertical text reads “shelidon.it” with an arrow.

It includes pearls such as "it's pointless to teach kids to read sources and interpret them in a critical way: we'd better focus on the narratives", "only the West knows History", and Christianity being the reason history actually makes sense.

I'm reading concerns on the introduction of AI in schools and you're right, I see you. Then again, we did better. Our new National guideline on how to teach history to students is colonialist, outdated and supremacist. Who needs AI to make mistakes when you have a far-right government?

Like the world needed to be any shittier at the moment 😔

RIP to Julian McMahon. A wonderful actor who I fell in love with way back on Charmed and Nip/Tuck 💔

This year at Milano Pride, I marched because activism is about making space, holding space, being the space so others can feel a little safer, a little stronger, a little more seen.

I walked with my colours, instead the usual 🏳️‍🌈, to show I'm not just a one-day ally. I *am* queer. And I am here.
🩷💜💙✊️
An indoor picture of me with curly hair and glasses, looking directly at the camera. I'm wearing the colours of the bisexual flag: a dark blue top, a dark purple jacket and a long scarf in shades of purple draped around my shoulders, on top of a white skirt. The background is my house: a cozy room with shelves of books, board games, stuffed animals, and tote bags hanging on hooks. It's messy, but it's home.

Oscar at the Crown. A futuristic, dystopian Mad Max biography of Oscar Wilde set in a nightclub.

Every bit as bonkers as it sounds. The story lost me (more Real Housewives than Oscar at points, but that's for another day), the design, staging and the cast's enthusiasm made it absolutely worth it!

You don't side with a bully, even if they hit someone you happen to dislike. They didn't ask you before they striked them, they won't ask you next time they strike. And, as far as you know, the next one might as well be you. That's what a bully does.

To give you an idea, today I discovered that I can't promote a post on Instagram (by clicking on the wrong button) because I never agreed to have my data used outside the basic functioning of the app. If I don't give them my data, they won't take my money. That's how much your data is ACTUALLY worth

Nothing new. They're about to release season 2 of a certain series, and that's a big bag full of nope as far as I'm concerned.
crshelidon.bsky.social
I know.
It's pushing the narrative that you can't be successful without being an asshole, and that's disheartening.

Darling, I don't care that he's not involved in the production. He gets money from it. I won't watch it.

Some guy on Twitter made a point of announcing that thousands upon thousands of men are descended from rapists, and we women "aren't going to like it when [they] stop asking nicely."

Which, you know, surprise surprise brother, but you're also not going to like it when we stop refusing nicely.
The painting titled Judith Beheading Holofernes by Artemisia Gentileschi. The painting portrays the moment that Judith beheads Holofernes, mid act of sawing his head off with a sword. Judith grasps his hair as he lies face up on his bed and cuts the sword across to behead him while blood spurts out of his neck. Another woman helps hold him down as he attempts to resist.

Yes, my ADHD and I will always have something that's out of place. A label sticking out, a scarf weirdly wrapped, a loose button.
Let's assume I appreciate your will to signal it (which I don't).
What gives you the idea you can FUCKING TOUCH ME to FIX IT YOURSELF? It drives me ballistic, I swear.
