If anyone was curious about what games I've worked on in my decade of the games industry, here is a handy list c: #GameDev

A "Tier Maker" style list for the games I've been involved with

All tiers are vaguely ordered for when I worked on them.

The first tier, "Games I've Worked On" lists games I've been involved actively in the development of pre-launch of the base game. This section has: Grand Theft Auto V, Red Dead Redemption 2, Nowhere Prophet, Yes, Your Grace, Mail Mole, Heist Simulator, Lets Build A Zoo, Not Tonight 2, Tombstar, Fashion Police Squad, Soccer Story, Slayers X Terminal Aftermath and Spirittea.

The next Tier is "Games I've worked on post-launch", where I was not there for 1.0 but have been involved either for DLC or for stability fixes. This includes GTA IV, Descenders and Hypnospace Outlaw.

The next category is "Games I've Worked on Ports Of" and this is quite self explanatory, games where I've been involved solely in the porting to different systems but was not there for 1.0 of the original title. This list is "Bully" "Not Tonight" and "Later Alligator"

The final category is "Games in development", which is for games I'm working on but are not out yet, which has "Dream Settler", "Descenders Next", "Starless Abyss" and a tile called "5 unannounced games"

(I've just done some digging and apparently Amazon Music now pays out better than Tidal, but also, I think that leaving Spotify on Ethical grounds and then going to Amazon instead is such a sidegrade that you may aswell be switching from clubbing seals to clubbing puppies)

It's not all perfect, it doesn't have collaborative playlists, the search function absolutely sucks, there is zero spotify-wrapped style end of year gimmick, it doesn't do voice commands and your friends probably aren't using it.

However, No money to Joe Rogan, No money to AI Drones, No ICE ads.

As a heads up, Tidal Music works well, pays out to artists better than any other streaming platform, has really good daily recommended/discovery playlists, has great next-song radio functionality, seamless playback, 6 person family plans, playlist sharing and unmatched audio quality.

I'm still going to Daily Drive Linux/CachyOS, I'm astounded by how good it is, and the KDE Plasma environment really works beautifully. Shoutout too to the fact it boots quicker from cold (including restoring my entire previous session) quicker than Windows 10 wakes from sleep. Very good OS.

Finally got my fucking windows 10 back.

Shoutout to the Medicat USB because I'd've been truly SoL without it.

I didn't even need to reinstall Windows, I managed to restore my MBR!

Honestly it's a huge relief. With planning/packing for Doggy Weekend I just did not need that extra stress at all.

Yesterday, I updated my desktop's BIOS so that I could eventually upgrade to Windows 11 if I absolutely had to.

This broke my boot manager for Windows 10, an OS I was already 𝕣𝕖𝕒𝕝𝕝𝕪 𝕗𝕦𝕔𝕜𝕚𝕟𝕘 𝕕𝕠𝕟𝕖 𝕨𝕚𝕥𝕙.

So, I had a USB for a Linux distro kicking about which I'd used for my laptop and...

One of the coolest things about Jenni's avatar was that it was the first time I'd done extensive hand-painting of an intricate design. (Ref closeup from @forbiddenflrsh.bsky.social)

It was entirely done by myself with a mouse on layer masks. Not bad for someone who says she can't "do" art

If I'd ever said "Yeah sure, put my clipboard on the cloud, who the fuck cares any more" then they 100% would not "forget" that i'd made that decision, but they'll ask weekly if I say no to it. It's not cute or charming it's fucking predatory and it wears you down into apathy.

Me: It's ironic given the month but I'm currently locked out of my computer because I updated the stupid bios to update to stupid windows 11 and stupid bitlocker said no to my boot manager and now I'm just about ready to press the big button which says "Fuck it, Linux"

Me: I mean that's what i'm saying??????? Microsoft was the problem so I'm using Linux as a solution.

It's like, conventional wisdom says the hardest part of getting someone to use your thing is getting them to actually try your thing. Often the folks getting lambasted are freshly installed and are 5 minutes of patiently answered questions from fully making the jump as a daily driver.

I'm still going to have to upkeep a Windows install for work (We release on PCGP, and also as a QA tester I need a vaguely equivalent setup to most of our players) as well as migrating to FreeCAD from Autodesk Fusion, but the limine bootloader has just been lovely so far so I doubt that's a problem

If I had a nickel for every time some "literally who?" has come into my replies to be condescending after I had a gripe with 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙞𝙧 𝙛𝙪𝙘𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙤𝙨 I'd have at least 10 nickels, and if I gave a shit about what they think I wouldn't be posting from my daily driver desktop running arch right now.
