Looking at the New Jersey results, Governor-elect Sherrill improved in every county in the state, but the real good news for Democrats is the two counties she improved the most (Hudson and Passaic) are counties with large Hispanic populations (we saw similar shifts in VA)
recovery with Hispanic voters. Second, they made big gains suburban areas, suggesting the Republican loss of the suburbs is continuing after a brief pause in 2024.
The Virginia election results show Democrats making gains across the state but where they made there biggest gains shows great news for Democrats. First, they made two of their largest gains in Manassas and Manassas Park, two cities with large Hispanic populations, suggesting a Democratic 1/
In addition, Democrats gained one seat in the Mississippi House of Representatives. While these gains seem small, every little gain in dark red states is important if you want the Democrats to become competitive there
A underlooked but important result last night happened in Mississippi. Due to a court ordered redrawing of state legislative districts, there were several special elections for state legislature. Democrats picked up two seats in the Mississippi Senate breaking the GOP supermajority
60% of the vote. These are the first statewide state office wins for Democrats since 2006. Key takeaways: running in support of green energy is effective (both Democrats emphasized this) and Georgia is still a state Democrats can win. Democrats could win control of the commission in 2026
Lots to parse through after last night, so let’s start with the state everyone was focused on: Georgia. The main focus was two statewide elections to the Public Service Commission. Obviously a low turnout election (21% of active voters), but huge wins for the Democrats as both Democrats win over 1/
It is a wipeout in Virginia. So far Dems have gained 12 seats in the House of Delegates and may still add a couple more
An important but probably overlooked result, voters in Maine have rejected in a landslide Question 1 which would have placed new restrictions on voting
Congratulations to Mikie Sherrill for being elected the Governor of the great state of New Jersey!
It is looking like Democrats may gain 9 or more seats in the Virginia House of Delegates. Republicans had 66 seats heading into the 2017 election. After tonight, they may fall below 40
Lindsey Dougherty flips district 75 of the Virginia House of Delegates. Three seat gain for the Dems so far (except several more to come)
Dr. Alice Johnson and Peter Hubbard flip two seats on the Georgia Public Service Commission to the Democrats. As Democrats try to make inroads in Georgia, winning these types of elections helps build a bench in the state
Congratulations Mayor Pureval on being reelected Mayor of Cincinnati! He will continue to do a great job for Cincinnati!
Kimberly Pope Adams in district 82 and Elizabeth Guzman in District 22 flip two seats to the Democrats in the Virginia House of Delegates. It is looking like Democrats will gain at least 5 seats in the chamber
The early numbers in Cape May County are looking good for Mikie Sherrill. With 38% of the vote counted, she trails by 1.1 points in a county Trump won by 19 points
Looking at the early results in Virginia, Dems win the Governorship and Lt. Governorship, and will gain at least 3 seats (likely more) in the Virginia House of Delegates
Congratulations to Abigail Spanberger! The next governor of the great state of Virginia!

The national battle to control the U.S. House shifts to California as voters consider a Democratic proposal that could erase as many as five Republican districts and blunt President Donald Trump’s moves to safeguard his party’s lock on Washington power.
