there's a galaxy-brain version of this where cutting market for a Giffen good reduces what is currently overproduction, farmers adjust, and this starves a couple tens of millions of people in Asia a few years from now

I believe that China purposefully not buying our Soybeans, and causing difficulty for our Soybean Farmers, is an Economically Hostile Act. We are considering terminating business with China having to do with Cooking Oil, and other elements of Trade, as retribution. As an example, we can easily produce Cooking Oil ourselves, we don’t need to purchase it from China.

so i have successfully been online a lot less the last ~week and the most noticeable consequence of same is that i have no idea what's happening anywhere anymore.

i'm not sure that's better, i'm not sure that's worse, but it's a big change
