But you know what does play a role in International Law… apartheid, in that it’s specifically seen as illegal.

Being somewhere and being somewhere while insisting on your supremacy over everyone else who is there are different things entirely.

As an example I'd been away from most of the internet for a few days and only had occasional Bluesky access via very limited cell service and had no idea of all the politcal upheaval in Madagascar.

my biggest beef with bluesky is that I get way more updates on what Curtis Yarvin or Peter Thiel than anything on the African continent

What the Twitter takeover did so effectively was fracture the way we get our news. If, for example, I want to get in-depth updates on Sudan I still check in with Twitter as that's where a lot of the biggest accounts are. There's no one-stop shop anymore.

If you've never been to Gaza, you won't appreciate what the yellow line means. Basically Israel now holds most of Gaza's small but important agricultural land. Continued Israeli occupation, which I judge the likely outcome, makes Gaza even more unliveable and more dependent on outside goods.

God it's so gross hearing reporters talk about Israeli "hostages" but then refer to Palestinian "prisoners held without charge" like what's the material difference between these two categories?

I'm American and love lamb and I wondered about it too.

Turns out in typical American fashion, out west in the late 19th/early 20th century, the cattle ranchers and the shepherds had multiple violent battles (the "Range Wars") about grazing territory. The cow folks won.

It’s wild to me as an Australian that Americans just don’t eat lamb, it’s so good

Great discussion at TWT on how the left must unite — Your Party and the Greens — to keep Farage out of Downing Street.

But unity isn’t uniformity. Your Party will be truly anti-imperialist: no diplomatic ties with a genocidal, apartheid Israeli state and no greenwashing NATO.

Because of Israel’s siege of Gaza imposed in 2006 where Dov Weissglas talked about putting Palestinians on a diet.

Yes some of us have been following this a long time, some of us (me) have even worked there, so nice try with your appeal to authority there.
