Hey I won! Comic Artist of 2025 😵‍💫 Thank you 🙏 Rosie and I read the results announced from the awards dinner in Tasmania. So we paused for a scratch and then got back to work :) Thank you ACA members and peers and congratulations to nominees and winners on the night.

She was a great character that got a little more development in the Avon novel & the team fantomen follow ups, I never liked that she just “retired”. We’ve gotten chance to play with an older version of the character; like you said, rare to use an older phantom. www.masoncomics.com.au/phantomfury

Since it's Harvey Kurtzman's birthday today, my #TopShelfFriday selection is an issue of Two-Fisted Tales.

Two-Fisted Tales #25 (1952). On the cover, an American soldier is telling his friends that an armistice is being arranged but one of the troops is dead and the other has snapped and is unloading on the enemy. "Yeah, yeah! Tell Jonesy about your armistice! He'll be glad!"

Sad to hear about the passing of the Michelangelo of Movie posters, RENATO CASARO. The Man painted so many iconic posters, specially in the 70s/80s: CONAN, TERMINATOR, DUNE, TOTAL RECALL, DANCE WITH THE WOLVES, BLOW OUT, FLASH GORDON, RAMBO, NEVER-ENDING STORY, and the list goes on and on. 1/2

Throwback Thursday: Some bits of Comic Book Dad advice that I think are still pretty pertinent --

There is nothing easy about Making comics. There's nothing easy about making comics as a career.so... you know... cut yourself some slack Pron time to time.
None of this is easy.

Never put down your own work. Is it perfect? Probably not. It rarely is.
But you did something that very few people can do, and you should be proud of that. And you actually made a thing.
That is always something to brag about.

There is no such thing as 'guilty pleasures', just things you like that other people want you to feel bad about liking so that they can feel cooler than
other people.

I might not be your real dad, but listen, it's hard out there right now for creative people and if you're still making things and dreaming your dreams, I'm incredibly, fiercely, proud of you.

Paul was the artist on Fantastic Four in the 90s and absolutely killed it, but for me as a Swede his prolific output on the Phantom comics are what make him a legend. Ryan didn't JUST work on the American dailies, he also drew several full-length comics stories for the Swedish Phantom comic.

Today is the birthday of artist Paul Ryan (Sept. 23, 1949-March 7, 2016). He worked on numerous titles for Marvel & DC over the years, which included Quasar and a lengthy run on the Fantastic Four, and both the Spider-Man and Phantom newspaper strips.

The Phantom recovers in a village and discovers that he isn’t the only Walker to visit. Just when I think Mason might run out of ideas for this series, he delivers this brilliant chapter. Bonus Julie!
