The annoying part, and largely an ever growing issue with Yakuza. Is it doesn't need to be about more. You're in a location, a crime gang is acting extra naughty, someone has a personal connection.

IW first reveal felt like I wonder how we'll go from 0 to rich. Not nuclear cult shark fights.
This is also true of all games. You could talk just as much about how games treat killing people, the techniques used to try and get around the implications, etc.

Cozy games do not need to be perfect moral avatars. It's just a worry how little they seem willing to engage.
Cozy doesn't make you free from reality and implications.

Dunking on cozy games is a little too easy, and a lot does stem from the perceived femininity. But with any creative endeavour it's important to consider framing, or you may accidentally end up sending a message you didn't intend.
still thinking about this article today. so many societal ills are caused by people white-washing what actually happens. it's awful to see games do it too.

can't wait for cozy domestic violence simulator or cozy kkk simulator
a wholesome plane has hit the second cozy tower

This is something I go back and forth on in fighting games. It nearly always fundamentally breaks your game making infinite infinites, but is also a really cool and fun idea.
They should remake halo but make movement really quick and let you carry more guns also nine inch nails
They really want the (not real) boob hypnotism to be a scandal. But the one thing the British public seem to like more than a large bosom is a cheeky scheme.

In any other line of work, if you aren't making enough you have to cut cost. Which often sucks, but sometimes you realise hey that part was wasteful and nobody liked it.

But when investors are involved, budget, scope and profit have to expand like a 90s cartoon character on DeviantArt.
Another reason why everyone needs to work retail once and preferably also make physical good they sell. No matter how unfair customers sometimes say no. There's no fixing that outside defeating capitalism.

But in tech, they all look to the market leader and go that'll be me.
It's a simple question of what is most likely to make a consumer backlash occur?

High loyalty helps quash it, quality products too. What may seem like a sign the backlash isn't real is actually other factors. Deliver a lower quality product from a lesser brand though? Well, then it materialises.
I genuinely don't know what I can say to make you see not all brands are equal. The loyalty to certain brands means people can be squeezed tighter sometimes, but not all the time. What may just seem like the very online pretending to be mad, is how a price increase can have an uneven effect.
You replied trying to say it was all just internet talk and that price increases had no real backlash. But when a company says in the most direct terms yes it did have a negative impact, it's just nope every brand has Zelda levels of loyalty.

The review bomb were an expression of intent
I did, and it seems silly to just say they need to ignore the internet being mean, when they have outright stated it hurt sales. That was just smugness from you, the reality is at best titans of the industry can weather the storm.

Your argument entirely ignores the idea of brand strength
But to undermine your point even more. The fact AAA games are releasing in such a poor state despite price increase, is not going to convince anyone the price increase is a worthwhile deal. Less appealing more costly games is a sure fire way to kill the industry.
Also don't just try to jump over the whole crash bit, when Capcom themselves site the price as an issue. People will just buy older or cheaper games. Guess what will happen to most of the industry? The weaker a brand is the less they'll be able to get away with the increase.
You're comparing a console to games, ironically showing how people are price conscious when it comes to expensive items. But no I can claim that as it isn't even unusual for a Nintendo game with poor or mixed reception to greatly outperform the competition. Just look at Pokemon

Do you think there is perhaps a small difference between one of the best known historical brands of a leading console manufacturer, and most other games?

Other companies have been trying to increase prices of their flagship titles and it has hurt sales.

The high price of PlayStation 5 gaming is affecting Monster Hunter Wilds sales, Capcom has said.

If you raise prices, but reduce sales. You not only risk making the increase pointless but shrink your market. Judging by the sluggish sales of games increasing prices, it would seem like an inevitable outcome is upon us.
The responses this post is getting, combined with the animating grievances of large swathes of politics, has convinced me we need a kind of society wide PSA about how Buying Things Is Optional.

You don’t think video games should cost $100? Don’t buy the videogame. Buying Things Is Optional.
AAA video games should cost $100 on launch. this would still be extremely cheap for the amount of time and enjoyment you get out of them! But an audience of whiny babies has kept them literally at the same price for *two decades* despite both general inflation *and* sector-specific costs rising
Games want to charge $100 yet Skullgirls is the only notable release with dick physics. So much for being an "art form"
Honestly Digimon games have been good for a while. Not high budget, but I'd recommend any of them with at worst the caveat that Survive is more VN than you'd think. Cyber Sleuths, Redigitize and Next Order are great.
