The previous "longest MLB postseason start by a Japanese pitcher" was Hiroki Kuroda's 8.1 innings of 2-run ball for the Yankees in Game 3 of the 2012 ALDS vs the Orioles. He was on the hook for a tough-luck loss until Raúl Ibañez homered in the 9th (then won it in the 12th) #HIROK #RaulSoCool

Harkey had been the Yankees' bullpen coach since 2008, save for 2014-15 when he was Arizona's pitching coach. That is a lonnng tenure.

Yankees have made two coaching changes to Aaron Boone's staff: Longtime bullpen coach Mike Harkey and first base coach Travis Chapman are out. More changes could come.

Aw, RIP Sandy Alomar Sr.
An All-Star infielder with the Angels in 1971, Sandy came to the Yankees in July ‘74 and spent the next two and a half years there, mostly as a defensive specialist. He was on the '76 team that broke a 12-year playoff drought and won the pennant.
Very famous sons, of course.
