7pm in Portugal. Someone has already bagged their sunbeds for tomorrow. Is this a record?
Bought some yarn today in Olhão 🧶🧶 but what to knit? I got three 100g skeins.
Background for Love, by Helen Wolff. It’s about a woman in 1930s Europe, trying to find a way of living.
Lovely holiday reading - a woman takes a cottage in Saint-Tropez for her own for three months.
I agree! It’s my third of hers - and Rebecca is still my favourite - but they’re all great stories and so well told.
Walked through Olhão market today, and saw lots of lovely crocheted things 🧶💕 #knitting #crochet
Almost finished Jamaica Inn ❤️
Current view. Olhao Portugal ❤️
Libraries often have knitting and crochet groups too ☺️
Not sure Cornwall and lashing rain goes with a Portuguese sunny day but it’s a reading group read, so what can I say?!
I’ve knitted two jumpers, one in cotton and one in a sort of mohair. You can see the mistake in my cabling here. I went the wrong way! It’s got an icord edge.
I made a cabled scarf a month or two ago, in alpaca. That worked. Apart from the bits where I cabled in the wrong direction 😬
That’s not surprising - I just wondered… I don’t think a project like that is right for me yet - I’ve been knitting for 9 months now. All full of admiration for your skill and hard work
Stunning! How long did it take you?
Wonderful holiday reading. Murata has so much to say about how it feels to be human. I loved Convenience Store Woman, too.
That’s not what I thought it might be about at all!
I must give that a listen. But I did feel quite down when I’d finished the book. Maybe I need something more uplifting next!
Oh my word how lucky are you?!!!
I read that as a class reader when I was in year 8 at school! I remember one line: “Be kind,” she said. But this may be a false memory. Our teacher was a young trendy chap
I’m so uncomfortable with the idea of undeserving poor 😥
I suppose that might have been the idea of deserving and undeserving poor? Like the Cratchits? It’s such a long time since I read it. 😩Had to help my class to get hold of that idea. They thought the ‘deserving poor’ deserved to be poor, instead of the other way around
This is my favourite weekly book post 🥰
It's Monday again and today I'm reading The Employees by Olga Ravn translated by Martin Aitken

What book(s) are you reading this week?
