Oh no, we’re gonna have to build the ai god to get through this recession
Data centers had a MATERIAL impact on GDP: IT equipment investment added 1.0%-pt to total real growth in Q1. That is a RECORD number for all periods.
main problem is I keep remaking these old reports after no one else could figure out how to redo the logic and then get more requests like this
love to get just the spreadsheet output from an old SSRS report that used a different ERP and get asked to remake it

This is a beautiful paragraph:
this doesn’t seem that bad to me, what part is burdensome to you?

diagrams would be necessary for installation anyway and model information should be readily available. maybe I’m missing something but i feel like this is similar to what’s needed for any big residential electrical work.
dough with filling too? Dumplings, arepas, pierogi, etc
this is less than what Panera does with old baked goods :/
>a “Bible-based AI buddy who's always got your back with wise words, scripture-inspired guidance…”

that’s what the Bible is for

> “… and a listening ear whenever you need it”

that’s what prayer is for

blatant heresy, we need an inquisition

they’re not calling me “cousin once removed Josh”

it was very telling when my mild-mannered Christian Reformed coworker muttered

“I know I shouldn’t say this at work, but I just don’t think they know what they’re doing… sorry for being political”

someone made a data model with 7 fact tables and 7 dimension tables

I don’t understand who thought this was a good idea

Elena Ceaușescu would’ve loved using AI for her chemistry research.
fwiw, Menard’s did ask customers to mask during covid which surprised me

Not expecting to be surprised again.
can you add nutty putty to it somehow?
i find myself getting really annoyed with the increased usage of “working class” in sense of anyone getting wage labor as though that’s *the* definition

in the US it’s a been a term for blue-collar/low-wage and it’s not really useful to describe me, a surgeon, and a Walmart worker as the same class
at this point I would actually trust someone who confesses, openly, that they are middle class way more than anyone who professes to be working class
this might have been covered in one of the sub-articles but while new chips are more power efficient, the power to performance of a chip isn’t linear: undervolt by 25% reduces perf by ~10%

so old gpus can still be productive with improved efficiencies (obv the depreciation they’re doing is bad!)

I enjoyed when knowing about conspiracy theories was just a niche interest, it was more “fun anecdotes about weirdos” and not “scary stories about people in power”
annoying things with Windows 11

Used to be able to click the taskbar clock on any screen and get a calendar pop-up. Now you can only do this on the primary screen.
I dunno how they’re gonna get enough transformers for all these data centers to go online in a couple years

there was already a three year wait a year ago
we’re a direct to consumer company cutting out the middleman to save you money

*cost of the middleman’s supply chain, physical store, and sales services will need to be shifted to producer without middleman’s economies of scale. price is higher.
