I'm already annoyed by all the unhelpful, shitty replies I've had to sift through while researching all the stuff I need to do to transition to Linux.

So far, the greatest barrier to adopting Linux has been other Linux users.

He is one of those people I have no discrete reasons to dislike, but he's charismatic and harmlessly popular in a way that makes me think we're gonna learn something pretty bad in a few years.

People like Blippy and Ryan Seacrest fall into that same category for me.

This shouldn't be read as dunking on faith or parenting, it's just why some people are attracted to these things. Other, cooler, people seek these things out for very different, cooler, reasons.

In the same way that religion is the last resort of the scoundrel, children are the last resort of sadsack losers who see kids as a "legacy" that requires minimal effort or as something that can be easily controlled. In both cases, it's a means to an end that accommodates their laziness.
