I was afraid it was a bit long-winded, to be honest.
I normally air on the side of caution.

So, my therapist wanted to know how I felt about being bullied like.
I tried to explain why that wasn't 'bullying.'
I failed.
Then I spent a lot of time re-assessing a lot of public school interactions.

I used to claim I was never bullied at school.
Then one day, I was casually telling my therapist about the year at Irving Middle School when there was a popular game actually called "Throw Rocks at Owen" during recess.
No, I did not like it. Yes, several teachers knew. They did not care.

An illustration of a lady knight by the title of River Styx in front of a depiction of a vulture and a cavernous river. darling cupid poses with a broken heart vest over her leotard Leora in her void form is grabbing a star that emits orange flame. The text reads: star catcher. an illustration of my character leora and npc absimiliard laying their heads on each other. there is a smaller art of her skeletal stag, mriga out into sea. the text reads: "if death is what it takes to be with you."

From inside the jousters' tents
The sound of the armorers accomplishing the knights
Busy hammers closing rivets up
Give dreadful note of preparation.

That's interesting. I was trying to stay away from it being a swift action so classes with combat-and-magic powers like paladins, inquisitors, and magi could use a swift, Rear Up, and still move all in the same round. But there are already Stance rules for PF1... though I think they need revising...

Hey, #ttrpg folks! I’m Monroe, a queer Latine game designer who has a lot to offer ☺️. I’ve written several journaling games, a few multiplayer games, and even a short story. I value my ability to be whimsical and knowing others enjoy what I’ve made. Consider checking out my work!

Hey, #ttrpg folks! It’s Pride, so time for a new introduction: I’m Monroe (he/they), a queer, trans, disabled Latine. I work in the space as a writer, sensitivity reader, and game designer. Occasionally you can find me around the space on APs.

Rear Up (Ex) As a standard action a centaur can make one ranged attack without provoking an attack of opportunity from foes at least 1 size category smaller than the centaur, unless they are on higher ground than the centaur.
[Could also be a feat for mounted troops]

We could do that with anyone (and not triggering Godwin's Law is difficult here).
But why should we?
Why should someone who enforced amputations, executions, and salve labor on a people he directly conquered be celebrated at any level?

Was Columbus a criminal? Calling him that may sound blunt, but it captures the brutal reality of his mindset and actions.

I reread Heinlein frequently; all his work is aging (as is everyone's) but not all of it at the same rate. Asimov I rarely reread, I find his prose workman-like at best and tin-eared at worst. He's inarguably incredibly important to SF, and also today there are SO MANY better writers of prose.

The answer to "how does [author] hold up?" is always "for whom?" Bester holds up fine to me, but I'm a 56-year-old white dude who has a vested interest in the genre. My take on his hold-uppedness will be different than, say, a 15-year-old BIPOC girl approaching science fiction for the first time.

We’wha (1849-1896), a notable weaver and potter Lhamana (Zuni Two Spirit), took on both masculine and feminine tasks as a Zuni cultural ambassador and pottery and textile artist.
Also a spiritual leader, We’wha endeavored to preserve the history, traditions, and knowledge of the Zuni people.
A black and white, full body portrait of We'wha, a highly respected cultural figure in Zuni culture, known as a "lhamana" (two spirits). We'wha is standing, looking at the camera, wearing traditional Zuni attire, with patterned clothing, woven belts, a long beaded necklace, and earrings. The hair is styled with side buns adorned with ribbons.
