The seemingly realistic clips — made by OpenAI’s new video-maker Sora 2 — show the legendary civil rights activist making crude jokes, wrestling with the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. and talking about defecating on himself.

“It is deeply disrespectful and hurtful to see my father’s image used in such a cavalier and insensitive manner when he dedicated his life to truth,” Shabazz, whose father was assassinated in front of her in 1965 when she was 2, told The Washington Post. She questioned why the developers were not acting “with the same morality, conscience, and care … that they’d want for their own families.”

I loved the book Stalin: Court of the Red Tsar. They were fucking mental, but not surprising really, given the nature of the previous regime, loads of deaths and ruinous wars, and the way the Bolsheviks were exiled, locked up etc.

The other thing that diminished the prestige of the medical profession in my eyes was learning how the Cochrane approach to systemic reviews transformed the profession as late as the 1970s. Bunch of quacks and leech-appliers! The sciences should be restored to their proper place in public esteem. 🤣

clip from news article that states that platner got a job as a security contractor for the state department in Afghanistan in 2018. That was when he worked for Blackwater.

Platner trying to explain why if he was against the war in Iraq, why he enlisted. He said he always wanted to be a soldier, felt the need to serve, even though he was against it. He doesn't explain why he went back and decided to work for Blackwater, a known corrupt military contractor.

I was a parent advising my oldest on career paths, including medicine, when I found out that medical schools don't require A level maths. The cheating bastards! 🤣

Is there anything significant, in terms of linguistics and grammar, in A level that is not in GCSE? I doubt it. The applicants might be expected to analyse the Whitsun Weddings, the themes of Arthur Miller or Thomas Hardy. But who would assess their efforts? Eng Lit graduates, a "low value degree?"

I am not sure there is much in A Level that isn't in GCSE other that a fuckload of books and plays and poetry, so not sure where this idea is coming from, other than encouraging the reading of books and plays and poetry.
