I also make a bunch of bespoke (for lack of a better term) neomoji. Haven't quite gotten around to releasing a full set yet but I have contributed to neogob and neobot.
One might assume any of the studies that warned Democrats not to try it because it has failed every single time it has been tried in post WW2 Europe would have been enough.

It's almost like the purpose of a system is what it does.
My mind is still blown that it got a second season. It didn't have good enough ratings or watch numbers to justify that. Were merch sales amazing and I just haven't seen them?
Tales of Wedding Rings comes to mind. It's bad but not quite bad enough to be so bad it's good. Instead, it's boring and the handful of good bits merely remind you that somebody tried and failed instead of embracing the trash.

Hey look, it’s the monthly annoucement of blood money acceptors - aka Harry Potter actors. Which actor I loved will I be sad is here? Which will show their ass in an interview & reveal how little they give a shit about trans people? Such a fun game this has become… fml. deadline.com/2025/10/harr...

I do wonder what's going to happen to all the AGI religious fanatics when the bubble finally bursts. People like Thiel don't think AI is a scam to make money, they genuinely believe they're building a god. How will rich, connected losers react to their god dying?
HiDive, Netflix, and Hulu but none are both big and specialize in anime.
I wonder how much of the media literacy problem arises from the fact that we teach it in a medium children seldom engage with, novels. Maybe in 1930 that made sense but shouldn't we be teaching them to analyze shows for context in something they actually read/watched/played instead?
A really great self reflection here. Our future tries to teach us to see ourselves each as Heroes on the Heroes Journey to change society, when instead we need to see ourselves as part of a community shifting and changing. Individual and community need to be balanced - not one over the other.
Now watching: “Why Tech Oligarchs Love Star Trek” by @jessiegender.bsky.social. Incoherent amateur review, and even more incoherent self reflection, to follow.
Newsom's favorability is 21 approve-40 disapprove. There are approximately 50 million Democratic voters who would be starting at a better point than him.

I may not vote for them but Pritzker and Beshear are at least not severely underwater despite 80% recognition so no one is left to win over.
Motor vehicle deaths in the US are slightly over 1.1 per 100 million miles driven. For every fatal car crash, 199 non-fatal ones are bad enough to get reported. That's roughly 1 per 500 thousand miles.

Unless the average trip length of a tesla taxi is 50 miles, he's proposing a huge increase.
Shooting yourself in the foot by picking awful people like Newsom (no e), Shapiro, or Buttigieg is one of the big reasons Democrats lose. You can't back an unlikable institutionalist with no spine and connections to the right then expect to win in this environment.
I have a Heph with multistrike that I've been planning to put siren on but now I pulled an eel gorgon. The question is, who do I put on whom? Eel gorgon gaining +30/+30 probably averages to +150 per turn. Heph would only get +50 but hers is a lot more stable, can't be wasted, and might get quick.
If Gavin Newsom runs, he'll loose anyway. If you don't want a Vance presidency, nominate someone better.
Of all the things you could pick to care about, this is the one that's good enough? Your litmus test is whether they will spend tax dollars making the president's house less tacky?

The symbol of America needs to look more like it did when slaves built it.
I'd argue we forgot how to do capitalism too. PE and vulture capital aren't actually good capitalism.

Hell, even the regulatory arbitrage behind most of Silicon Valley's bullshit is bad capitalism. It's jumping out of a local optimum to reach a short term gain/long term loss thing.
There are some Uyghurs who might object to that characterization (among others).
My first impression is that these numbers indicate the actual value of Bluesky is the userbase that rejected Twitter but didn't migrate to Threads.

The protocol doesn't matter.

Threads' problem is that people check it occasionally but don't get hooked. Probably why it's low priority for Facebook.
Yeah. It's certainly a 🚩 that they have something that successful but don't care about it enough to put staff on it to fix it.

Then again, nobody ever accused Zuckerberg of being good at business.
The numbers are from Similarweb. The guy in charge only cited that topline figure because daily active users are a very different story. It's 7M on Threads to ~100M on Twitter.

So it seems you can't cook your brain getting hooked to Threads the way microblogging is supposed to cause addiction.
I mean, I can view Threads posts from my home instance last time I checked (we really ought to be blocked by now though). I doubt it works in the other direction or will any time soon. But it's still more than nothing.
Thank you for the suggestion but I'm not really worried about AtProto. I'm just thinking about the implications of it failing so thoroughly.
Threads has over 400M monthly active users. Twitter is under 550M. It's possible that, excluding bots, Threads is bigger.

Bluesky is at 5M. Since Threads uses ActivityPub, that's not great for AtProto. It's a small incompatible niche service.
Does anyone have suggestions for a PC repair place in the Madison, WI area?

I can't tell if my desktop's mobo is fried, the PSU is dying, there's a short somewhere, or if it's just a loose wire. I'd like to take it in somewhere but don't know who to trust around here.
This isn't to dismiss how many shitty leftists there are who are also racist, misogynist, and homophobic. That's also a real problem that needs to be addressed. But we can't ignore the other half of the problem is Bernie's tent attracting so many right wingers.
An often overlooked part of this problem is that Bernie attracted a lot of cross party support. Anti-corpo Republicans are a big faction within the Republican party. Some of them felt neglected because the party is pro-corpo so Bernie was appealing. They kept their racism, misogyny, and homophobia.
There is a white male to Bernie Sanders to far right pipeline, that needs to be explored.
And historically, we've had a lot of problems with this as leftists. Leftist movements around the world and over time have struggled to accept Black people and women. Even the "good" ones are frequently plagued by it.
