11 Days.

Thank you Paula Penfold ( @paulapenfold.bsky.social ) being the first journalist to publish an article about the Proud Boys New Zealand terrorist designation lapsing.

It raises so many questions.

It should not matter whether you are a MP,public servant, health professional or just any member of the public, nobody should have to go through that level of abuse.
Threats & clear cases of defamation harms society & beyond a threshold should be a criminal act, subject to police prosecution.

Faced by all...
"But the law focuses primarily on individual acts, and does not fully capture the gendered and cumulative harm of abuse faced by women politicians. Defamation law can address false statements, but it is often costly and too slow to prevent the rapid spread of harmful content."

More waves crashing on the sandcastles of hopium. I'm famously pessimistic, but the data continues to surprise me to the downside. It's relentless. We've not seen anything like this for 45 years. Compounding, mutually reinforcing, job-killing dynamics. (1/2)

In a blind panic to keep inflating the circular financed large language AI model business bubble, the CEO of OpenAI Sam Altman suggests that their remaining user-customers to figuratively go fuck themselves.

Because as with the recent Chinese navy live fire exercises in February 2025, misunderstanding can be problematic to say the least.

China treats the mere mention of Taiwan like Trademark infringement.
If you don't bar others using your trademark the right to a sole claim of the trademark can lapse.
Same as per China's claim of Sovereignty over Taiwan.
As more of the world recognised Taiwan, China's perceived claim diminishes.🇨🇳🇹🇼

It’s ironic that this happens the day after the Luxon Govt announced it will make the climate crisis worse by letting the dairy industry off the hook for its superheating methane emissions.

Meanwhile ...

Has Simon Watts, Minister for Climate Change, Or Todd McClay, Minister for Agriculture, or anyone in the cabinet, received advice from officials how this decision

Yeah it's that simple: OpenAI needs to build 3GW of data center capacity, which will cost over $100bn, and they need to do so in around a year. All three of these deals are based on unreleased chips too. Where the hell is the press on this?

Eventually somebody has to actually get paid with these endless IOUs circulating, right? All these companies are being paid in fake scrip, but like, the rest of the world deals in real money, not Altman Farts. When does this stop?

Central Govenment sets the limits.

"You have inherited a property & house next to a cliff down to a gorge with a stream running through it.

Every few years, along with your neighbors in the same situation, you collectively get together to hire some builders to maintain the retaining wall."

"The endless cycle of underinvestment

During the election campaign,Local Government NZ chairman and Selwyn mayor Sam Broughton described a doom loop afflicting councillors. If they start getting realistic on the costs facing their councils and raise rates, they face an angry voter backlash."

Winners, losers, big losers and gigantic losers from the 2025 local elections
Winner: the endless cycle of underinvestment in core infrastructure. Big loser: the pipes.
