*sigh* It looks like I might actually have to do research and figure out if it's feasible for me to switch to Linux? I was already thinking about trying to cut back on PC gaming, but Windows going all-in on AI is going to actually make me do the thing, isn't it?
omg this gave me some much-needed giggles.

Maybe don’t kick out the people then?
RFK Jr: "When my uncle was president, the fertility rate in this country was 3.5%. Today it is 1.6%. The replacement rate -- in other words the amount of fertility you need to keep your population even -- is 2.1%. We are below replacement. That is a national security threat to our country."

Beem to a dozen of National Parks. Visiting John Brown and Harpers Ferry was one of the most contemplative I've visited. Stong recommend.

CNN: Federal judge demands answers from Trump admin on following order to avoid violent encounters with Chicago protesters

“You can’t shoot ‘em in the head (with pepper balls),” Judge Ellis said. “You can’t deploy tear gas. You can’t use flash-bang grenades. You can’t drive a car through a crowd.”

Stare decisis is a crucial democratic guardrail. But SCOTUS justices have been chipping it down to nothing - turning themselves into unelected lawmakers in a way the Framers never intended. If that’s the job they wanted, they should have run for office, not taken lifetime appointments on the bench.
The Supreme Court is supposed to apply the law, not make it - The Boston Globe
The slow death of stare decisis is turning the justices into robed lawmakers.

All of this, in violation of the Constitution.
Trump and Vought are now breaking both sides of spending law. They’re illegally not spending where the law requires them to spend, and they’re illegally spending where they don’t have the money to spend.

What we have is an appropriations king.

Spending “deals” are meaningless under that setup.

this ballroom is the best evidence that trump doesn’t intend to leave
Exclusive: More than three dozen organizations and individuals are expected to attend a dinner with Trump on Wednesday after opening their checkbooks to support a $250 million White House ballroom.

I mostly just hope they're both OK, as they had things going on and could have left because social media was just too much for right now, too. But man losing cool people stinks. Wishing them all the best.
Two people that I enjoyed following aren't on bluesky anymore. I checked on clearsky to see if I was blocked (it would be ok if I was! Just helpful for my brain to know what happened). They both were non-binary folks & that makes me worried that they were suspended rather than choosing to leave.

There’s a lot to be upset about, and I don’t advise putting your head in the sand, but it is really bad for your brain to be mad all the time on a purely physiological level.

If you possibly can, take time to put down the mad.

It will help you think more clearly and remember why you’re doing this.

It's "far from normal for an administration to fire line-level civilian employees during a government shutdown as a way to punish the opposing political party."

From a judge's TRO blocking Trump's mass firings under cover of the shutdown
It is also far from normal for an administration to fire line-level civilian employees during a
government shutdown as a way to punish the opposing political party. But this is precisely what President Trump has announced he is doing, by taking to social media on the second day of the
shutdown to post: “I have a meeting today with Russ Vought, he of PROJECT 2025 Fame, to determine which of the many Democrat Agencies, most of which are a political SCAM, he recommends to be cut, and whether or not those cuts will be temporary or permanent. I can’t believe
the Radical Left Democrats gave me this unprecedented opportunity.”

Republicans don’t have a strategy to reopen the government, and it shows.

On Day #15 of Donald Trump’s shutdown, I am STILL waiting for Republicans to get their act together and help us lower Americans' health care costs.

A very good thread on masking, especially in these hellish times when the systems meant to protect us are being spitefully destroyed by evil little power hungry gremlins. Mask up! Protect yourselves and your community! 😷😷😷
if you are rightfully concerned if not frightened about the continued dissolution of U.S. healthcare infrastructure, would you take an action every day to resist it?
