the subreddits for luxury watches are some of the darkest places on earth
Rolex subreddit post:

My uncle has Alzheimer's and is often forgetful of his possessions. One of them is a Rolex Submariner. Would I be justified in taking and caring for it as my own instead of having it left neglected and forgotten in his jewelry box? Thanks.

but Chris who would be dumb enough to do that

at this point it would be interesting journalism if someone could locate a Young Republican groupchat that was not full of overt Nazis

this episode features my theory of the current court’s actions, which I believe will come to be hesitantly accepted by historians

This week’s episode is Department of State v. AIDS Vaccine Advocacy Coalition, where the Court butchered a statute in order to let Trump keep blocking foreign aid.

NFL is kind of cool this year, every team sucks at least a little bit

perfect bluesky reply thank you

Would you prefer the white nationalism replies?
notalawyer.bsky.social
this is the actual blueskyism

going viral here is worse than it used to be on twitter because half of the replies will just be pure pedantry

the actual story here, which the media never talks about, is that police in this country have become a discrete right-wing political operation. the story isn't about cops leaving (they're lying about that), it's about the police trying to exert influence over elections.

Lmao is this supposed to be a bad thing?
A tweet from Bari Weiss that says “"It's shaken me to my core," a lieutenant said of Mamdani's unexpected victory in June. "The absolute dread I feel is palpable.
"
Today in @TheFP our @Olivia_Reingold talks to the cops who say they will walk if Zohran Mamdani is elected in November:”

the one thing we know for sure that Bari is good at is securing investment from wealthy reactionaries

a lot of these stories assume The Free Press is a business success. but is it? they generate a ton of subscription revenue but they spend so much that they needed to raise $15M last year. we can't see the financials, but there's a good chance that the operation is a money pit.

This is really smart. Amazed at the hysteria over the ascendance of a woman entrepreneur who clearly knows how to cover and sell news and who's not afraid to take on a mob. www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archiv...

depends on the metric, there are countries with higher incarceration rates for example.

(watching a population vigorously oppose subsidizing the welfare state while also maintaining one of the world’s largest prison systems) these are people who love to be free

the idea that freedom is in our DNA is just a misinterpretation of the fact that we’re a nation of finicky whiners who don’t like to be personally inconvenienced

Thiessen having a good chuckle about his fired liberal colleagues - some of whom he worked with for 15 years - is a good reminder that token conservatives at mainstream news outlets are/were there to destroy them, not to contribute to them.

This month’s premium episode is about the state of the First Amendment under Trump, where we address the question of how close you can get to doing a death threat before it’s illegal.

I cannot believe a 55 year old man cares enough about the lyrics in a young women’s song that he’d post about it online. Cool. ✌🏼
