near illiberalism. I used to be a lawyer. I still am one, but I also used to be one. better things are in fact possible. The most effective liberals have been those forced to compromise with leftists, not those left to compromise with conservatives.

It’s worth noting that the most organized and effective resistance to Trump, so far, has come from the lawyers.
NYC has never been so politically divided as it is today, with the first mayor to crack 1 million votes in 60 years
Zohran won more votes than any mayor since John Lindsay beat Abe Beane and William F Buckley in 1965.

No easy feat when you look at the trend in total votes cast since then.
There is still a massive gender gap that I find very concerning.

I may have to tap the chart.
I have to trash an entire print run because of the Ciattarelli beats Sherrill headline
Zohran won a higher percentage of the vote than Bloomberg in 2001, about the same as Bloomberg in 2009 and Giuliani in 1993, and did it in a three-way race.
Zohran won a higher percentage of the vote than Koch did when he beat Mario Cuomo.

Schumer is plainly just a massive bigot. he will not support a Muslim for elected office
Q: It's election day in NYC. Did you vote for Mamdani or Cuomo?

Schumer: "Look, I voted, and I look forward to working with the next mayor to help NYC."
and my husband, who as you know, often flew on the same private jet that Ehud Barak sometimes took
Zohran took my apes, all my apes gone
Crypto really cryptoing today huh
The people did pretty good at this. Especially considering how much of the Great Recession stuff was on the Bush/Obama cusp.
it works at the district level but doesn’t aggregate, it doesn’t work as a national-level strategy. You can make room for Dems in these types of races, but it’s not a viable way to run a national political party.
new Mira Nair documentary on the experiences of south asians in America
Primary debate question #1. There’s just no answer that isn’t obvious chickenshit.

So Schumer never did endorse, huh. Nor Gillibrand. Just irredeemable pieces of shit, the entire NY senate delegation
It should be fine for policy initiatives to fail. Fail to win support but, even more, fail to accomplish their objective. When we identify problems, we should try a bunch of stuff until we fix them.

"The strength it fears, not the appeasement it craves" goddamn
Hashmi supporters would be dancing in the streets if the town elders hadn’t banned it
Lynchburg, VA--home of Liberty "University"--is currently 59% blue for Lt. Governor candidate *checks notes* Ghazala Hashmi.

Not gonna do the analysis. Dont have the data, no stata license, unwilling to be proven wrong.
My statistical analysis would control for other Cuomo-supporter variables like age and income, and find Jewish surname to be a surprisingly low predictor across the city
why should empirical evidence get in the way of a marketable narrative?
All casualty estimates require scoping causality and choosing a counterfactual. This, not just record-keeping, is part of the variance.
It’s a sufficiently defensible estimate of the outside limit.
Tonight’s results notwithstanding, it’s interesting how much better at politics a party is when it knows it’s trying to accomplish unpopular things versus knowing most people agree with them
