In their latest (Sept 2025) net-zero roadmap, the International Energy Agency (the good IEA) are unequivocal that there is no room for new oil and gas fields if global warming is to be limited to 1.5ºC.

On that basis, a carbon-literate government would reject this application, so I guess we'll see.

BREAKING🚨: @Equinor has resubmitted its application to open the biggest undeveloped oil field in the UK - Rosebank.

In the next weeks, the UK gov will decide to reject or approve this disaster project.

Equinor hasn’t given up, and neither will we. We’re stepping things up.

Binary search involves a police officer scrolling to halfway through a CCTV recording and asking “is the bike still visible?” If it is, they can scroll to halfway through the 2nd half. To locate the theft time to within 5 minutes is at most seven inspections.

This fen creation trial by the High Batts team at Pennycroft Quarry is hopefully the start of something much bigger. It's survived a mammoth river flood and prolonged inundation. Adjoining open water is crystal clear and dominated by stonewort beds, suggesting ideal conditions for calcareous fen.
