I'm willing to bet 90% of it was staged. All of his videos, competitions, or otherwise are rigged and staged. However, all you need is that 10% to go wrong. Fire is one of the most unwieldy elements you can mess with, and I would trust a chain e-mail more than Mister Beach over there for safety.

My headcanon is that Nog thinks he is bad at business because Ferengi see business deals as a zero-sum win/lose game, because he's involved in three fetch quest plots on DS9 and they all leave everyone in the deal better off than they were before
