Pottering along with some old 486 repairs. New RTC and some trace fixes this time. I'm not too familiar with computer repair so this is an education.
14 years of excellent service but now beyond economic repair, not least because Firewire is about 85 years out of date. Time for a change. Which annoyingly means finding a shit load of money. Sigh.
Ah thank you, I shall look those up.
Any #mycology fans here? I'm new to this and haven't been able to ID these two. The first two pics are a #mushroom found in a deciduous woodland clearing, the third is a little cluster half eaten by beasties in my garden (both northern UK).

Of course the GOAT of music gear sites from back in the day was/is machines.hyperreal.org

The art of drawing schematics in ASCII is practised too little now I fear.

Ooh. Now an ancient classic. Lots of DX7 on this one. I remember a couple of decent interviews about the recording of it back on the day, probably on muzines now.
Having all these different mushrooms on my garden makes me way more excited than literally anything else in my life rn tbh.

Ah this is news to me, and very local! I did my MA on that street 😃
It's not perfect but it seems ok. I've spent the last couple of weeks looking at options for editing text from the command line rather than a gui, on both the pi and a recently resurrected old Mac running Ubuntu.
I've set up a Pi with touchscreen and Wordgrinder so I can be a terrible hipster in the café and tippytap on a 60% mech keyboard like I know what I'm doing.
Good to know. I'm starting to dabble with ms and grabbed sublime but haven't used it in anger yet.
Is vim good for markdown? Have you tried neovim?
A film where the edits make a surprising difference. I like the work print, but the SA scene always feels wrong. And of course none of them resemble the book.

The main problem with BR is that every other synth demo on YouTube is some geezer playing *that* line on a microkorg recorded on a potato.
After wasting an entire evening I have come to the conclusion that Linux is for terrible people only.
