Thank you for having me on your podcast, Adven!

I thoroughly enjoyed our discussion about some of the big issues facing Albertans, like government ethics, education, coal mining, community-building, and more!

Scared for strike talk at the dinner table? Don't worry, we have you covered with the facts on education. ⬇️
Line chart showing Alberta’s real dollars per student dropping under the UCP. Text highlights: Alberta is last in per-student funding, class sizes of 40+, and that the UCP could have acted months ago. Students walking toward a school. Text says Alberta’s NDP built and modernized 244 schools in four years, while the UCP has only built or modernized 78 in five years. Student standing in a library aisle. Text says Alberta’s NDP funded education per student above the national average and that past NDP funding remains higher than the UCP’s, even with inflation. Classroom scene with raised hands. Text says Alberta's NDP introduced a 2023 bill to bring back class size reporting, and the UCP defeated it.

It didn't have to be this way. The UCP needs to get back to the table with the respect our teachers and students deserve. #abed #abpoli #ableg #betterispossible

Hundreds of people rallied for public education today in Sherwood Park, organized by ATA Local 21 and 28.

It’s past time the UCP acknowledged the problem they’ve created, and bring forward a deal that will allow our kids to thrive at school once again.

I’m blown away by the 20 000 Albertans who rallied at the Legislature today. Buses from Sherwood Park were full of people fed up with the UCP’s failure on education. They demanded that Danielle Smith do the right thing and bring teachers a fair deal so that every student can thrive in the classroom.

We stand with teachers, parents, and students. Alberta teachers are valued and must be treated fairly.

Albertans need to know the full details of this mess, but the UCP still refuse to launch a public inquiry.

Just last week the UCP announced they would not make the interim report on the Corrupt Care scandal public. Now we have learned that two AHS procurement officials were directors at a company with ties to a supplier at the centre of the allegations.
Alberta health officials were also directors at a company linked to a supplier
Corporate filings reveal further links between Alberta Health Services procurement staff and private firms

Alberta's students are worth so much more than the lowest per-student funding in the country.

Investing in education is the BEST thing we could do to build a better future for our province. We'll never stop fighting for that.

Even days after hearing the news, it’s hard to have the right words.

Our hearts are so heavy as we mourn the loss of Dr. Darren Markland. He was a bright, compassionate light for our city, province, and beyond.

We love you Dr. Markland.

You made our world so much better.

Rest easy, friend.

Students have spent the past ten years waiting for this school to be built. First they had classes in a rented space at the Cité Francophone, then they moved to portable classrooms in Sherwood Park. These students have been very patient.

Yesterday’s public school opening was extra special, as it was the culmination of 10 years of hard work by the Franco-Albertan community in Strathcona County. MLA Janis Irwin presented a plaque on my behalf honouring the opening of École Claudette-Et-Denis-Tardif in Sherwood Park.

Many disabled Albertans participate meaningfully in our economy by working for supportive employers and contributing to our communities. It feels more important than ever to bring awareness to the value that disabled Albertans bring to our province.
