I’m reminded of reading that “Grave of the Fireflies” and “My Neighbor Totoro” were released as a double feature (with GotF playing first). Yes, this actually happened.

So imagine “Hey, let’s go!” from MNT is playing while patrons in the audience are still wiping their tears.

Had a dream a while back in which I discovered the existence of the "Grave of the Fireflies/Super Mario World 2-in-1" for the Wii. It basically functioned as a DVD except for a "special features" section that literally only had an SNES emulator playing Mario World. It went for absurd prices on eBay

The cover for a fake Wii game consisting of both the 1988 Studio Ghibli film, Grave of the Fireflies, and Super Mario World; both are represented on the cover, the former by the poster of Seita carrying his sister Setsuko across a field and the latter by the artwork of Mario wearing a cape and riding Yoshi. The cover promises "TWO classics in ONE!".

Recently animated one of the early shots for my new short, The Twig Gatherer. I'm gonna try and clean up the scene in order to test how I want the overall clean up/coloring style of the film to look. looking to the past, there were discussion forums or magazines that released often that clued people in to new releases, much like how 'game showcases' exist now. fans can't seek out what they don't know exists

In all seriousness, publishers are going to have to figure out how to market books in the post-social-media landscape. That should be an implicit part of their job. What authors/artists can do on their own is increasingly limited and siloed.

“Sinners” rocks. I just watched it on an airplane after a week long trip and it might be my favorite film of the year right now.

That thing about the random Disney Pictures logo being there reminded me of when the obscure 1940’s adaptation of “Swiss Family Robinson” was on D+ one time (not the official 60’s version) and for some reason at the beginning, they added the WDP logo at the beginning and it was so confusing.

Knowing the sequel to the Mario movie is immediately going to Super Mario Galaxy, I fear it’s going to have similar story problems like the first movie where everything is like a fast road trip without proper stops. I want more character moments, dammit!
